Post subject:  Budget Alien Warrior costume?

Hey everyone!

So my Mom and I were talking today about what we are going as this year to a convention. I said I wanted to go with my new version service C costume once I get it made, and Mom decided she wanted to be a Warrior alien hahaha!. I double checked and made sure she was serious, she is.

I did some light searching for kits, but they run $1000+...

I found some neat instructables for making one, but I wonder if it is too ambitious than just getting a kit to paint and strap up. We can get the parts to make one easy enough, but I am trying to weigh our options.

Our budget last year was about $500 for our costumes.

Any ideas/pointers?

Thanks!

If you can find a cheap source of a large amount of foam materials, have a good workspace and have a LOAD of free time/energy to do it then it's perfectly doable.

Get a mannequin close to the size of your mum, a spandex or similar undersuit and go for it!

I've seen a number of people create pretty cool looking Alien suits with fairly simple supplies.

Once you get the body suit just keep adding texture and tubes and it all starts coming together.

Really? cool!

We were talking about tackling the build that nickdaring posted, but a kit would be much easier haha!

Sending you an email now!

:D I guess it goes without saying: If you can sort something out with Jay then it's the way to go - it will be much easier and more SA to work from the kit.
