The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Dear All,

Has anyone got a decent photo of the correct sleeping roll including the pattern and colour?

I'll be looking to acquire some for lining my lobster plates...

What was lined with this stuff for the screen used gear? The lobster plates and the shoulder sections of armour?

Any help much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Pete

Has anyone got a decent image of a piece? I've got someone hunting for it on my behalf... Is it green with a square pattern?

I think it's Dutch Army camping mat, not Danish. :)

Here's some in Nick's build thread:

Reminds me of the yoga mat I used to line the inside of my armour! Yoga mat not quite as thick though...

You'll need to slice the mat in half don't forget. :)

That looks good... Did you retro fit that to the plates (already attached to the helmet) or put it on before attaching the lobster plates?

I cut the holes in the plates then then resined in the ends of the webbing on the bigger plate cut the matt about 3-4cm bigger than the plate then glued the matt in with contact adhesive . left it to dry for 30 mins or so then with a sharp knife cut around the edge to trim the matt back then with the small plate I stuck the matt on then just cut slits where the holes are and threaded the webbing thru

After having used both the dutch camping mat and yoga mat on armour builds id have to say that the yoga mat is the way to go.

You know I never really noticed the padding in the lobster plates. lol

Can anyone tell me if the armour/helmets from Spat have the matting in them? Or would I have to source it myself and do a retrofit?

Don't really mind either way but it would be nice to know now rather than later so I can see about getting a mat before my helmet turns up.

Also. Where would be the best place to get the mat and which brand should I go for? ( I know nothing whatsoever about yoga or yoga mats. :) )

To keep the costs down, my gear does not ship with that padding in it.

Here in the U.S., the yoga mats with the grid pattern are pretty abundant in most stores like Wal-Mart and Target.

But that doesn't really help you much.

Not to worry. Soapy sent me a PM with the ebay account that he got his from. I don't have an ebay account but a friend at work's going to order it for me. ( He ordered a Pentax lens for the helmet too and it's sat here waiting. :-) )

I managed to get an original Dutch Sleeping Mat today for £10... Mint condition... Pity it's going to be sliced up I suppose...

Cheers for the pics Matt!
