The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi Alien Fans!

My name is Daniel and I live in Germany. Not so long ago, a few friends of mine and me, filmed a remake of the last scene from "Alien". There was a big shortfilm festival in Hamburg, Germany und the task was... of course... a remake. I am a big fan of the original "Alien"-film by Ridley Scott and so we decided to go for it.

If you got six minutes of your time, just take a look. I'm always looking forward to feedback and opinions :) And, before anyone asks, we didn't want to use the original Giger-Alien-Look, first of all, because we couldn't afford it and second out of respect for the original. Have fun and please tell me, what you think about it!

Yeah, but Ripley didn't wear a bra under her undershirt. There, I said it.

Cute fan-film, though. You all show much promise.

Oh, I'm sorry for that bra. I like the scene anyway ;)

Oh cool! I didn't see that. Then thanks to ADC for posting that. Maybe the admins can throw these two threads together.

Yes. I like the set of the spaceship so much, I shot two films in it. The next one is called "Furple Reign" and has a lot more action than "The Last Survivor" and it is much funnier too. By now, it's making its way around the world to festivals (I hope, at least one of them shows it...) and after that, I will put it on YouTube.

Wow!!! Bloody Brilliant! well done to all involved! I really enjoyed it and loved the sets, scenery and special effects, really professional results, almost a glimpse of what an ALIEN remake (god forbid the hollywood machine ever touch it) could look like. Looks like you had a lot of fun doing it.
Just a few comments, not criticism in any way:
Great choice of Ripley....good cheekbones! although she does get that space suit on pretty fast, a bit more fumbling with the helmet seal might have implied that there were some inner workings fitting into place before we hear the 'pffft' of it sealing.
Love the Xenomorph, although I think it would have been far more menacing without the bambi eyes. How could she blow it out into space? It was cute and only wanted a hug :)
I think the soundtrack could be tweaked a little to add to the tension of the moment.
I liked the yawn from Ripley, the teddy and the wink from Jonesy........these all implied a little tongue in cheek fun and a playful nod.
All in all, it's a really great piece of work. Thanks for sharing.

Great little fan film there. I jumped when the alien arm appeared. Well done to the whole of your team as it looked grand.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who noticed the cat wink.

I told the cat to wink. And it did what I wanted. That's the kind of directing a movie, I like best!

Don't be sorry. Sadly, they didn't take our movie.

FedCon: I don_t know. I've never been to a FedCon before. Maybe it's because I have a problem with being around too many people... ;)

It's very good. The only bit that i would have replaced would have been the helmet. It looked pretty rough in the close-ups. On the whole though it's very good

Yeah, I agree. The helmet was a real problem. We couldn't find a good helmet for a spacesuit, that was affordable and so we had to built it completely new. That didn't work very well...

I'd be interested to lean what equipment you are using from camera to post.

I don't know for sure... When I first signed in here, I called myself Nocturnus, but the admins asked me to use another name because of the similarity :)

We shot the film with a Canon 5D. It was edited with Final Cut and most of the effects came from Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects. I am not really sure about the explosion in the beginning, but I think, the VFX-man used max 3d for that. :xeno:

Thank you! It's my first movie, I mostly did in english (okay, there is not sooo much dialogue) and it's a really cool feeling, that people all over the world (mostly USA, UK and Germany) are watching it. There are still just 2500 clicks, but i's great. I like it :)
