Hi guys, well as I mentioned briefly in the Pinewood Drop thread my Polish BDU's arrived a couple of days ago so with UNITY looming this weekend I thought I would try to get them somewhat presentable so I can wear them for the drop. So I thought I would start with UKCM/USCM tapes I bought from the spares DATA had at the end of his last CAMOTECH order. Being a big fan of making things as multi-purpose as possible I bought 2 each USCM and UKCM one set with and one set without Velcro backing. Anyway long story short I'm not a fan of needlework although I can sew and then I remembered the 2 reels of adhesive backed micro velcro I have so I thought why not give it a go. Pictured below are the results of my first attempt at converting an NON Velcro UKCM Camotech Tape in to a Custom Micro Velcro Backed UKCM Tape! First the Micro Velcro Loop Strip fixed above the pocket. ![]() Next with the UKCM Tape attached properly. ![]() Finally with the Tape part peeled to show the Velcro in action ![]() The micro velcro saves almost 1.5mm in thickness on the overall bundle your attaching to your shirt which makes it neater than standard Velcro while maintaining interchangeability although obviously not quite as sharp as either sewing or "wunderweb" iron on adhesive. So far the Velcros' adhesive has happily resisted several "tear offs" and repositionings although I think in the long term I may reinforce the ends of the loop tape on the shirt with stitching in case the adhesive begins to age OR is softened by excessive heat! Very tempted to do all my patches if I have time! All I need now is a Name Tape anyone up for another CAMOTECH Order? |

Shouldn't there be a gap between the tapes and the pocket? Not that it really matters as it still looks really great. And funnily enough I did the same thing when I ordered my nametapes from Camotech a couple of months ago and bought one set with velcro and one without. I'm going to velcro all my patches on as I want a set of UK ones to go with my US ones at some point so I can swap them out if needed, but i'm not too sure how i'm sticking mine on yet though. |

Velcro is a good idea... They never take that well to washing anyway. I'm trying to get printed insignia (not embroidered) and these will be even more susceptible to washing... I've got USCM and UKCM tapes from CAMOTECH and didn't get Velcro on any of them... Wish I had now... |

If you want to convert your existing tapes and patches then drop me a PM I have both the Self Adhesive backed Micro Velcro in black as pictured and also standard "thick" Velcro in MOD Olive Green without adhesive on the reel! Both are 50mm wide. Adhesive backed stuff is also good for "Heath Robinson" mounting of accessories like torches to your Pulse Rifle! |
