The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

That's a nice shirt...pocket shape is already good to go...just need the collar and like you say, remove the epaulettes.

Also fits into the Vietnam style bracket

so for those who have already converted the shirts, how tall did you make the new collar?

Someone mentioned in a previous post about British Army Barrack Trousers. For those looking for a pair I've bought some here in the UK. Small sizes I'm afraid

Why not get a USMC Svc C shirt? You'd find one much cheaper £30 on eBay, and there's less modifications to do. As for the collar, I believe I went with 1", but is have to measure it to be certain.

Still working on getting the correct garrison cap, the one in the pic on page 3, is one I borrowed from Derek- that's why it still has the EGA on it.

Winch, you still have that 7 1/4 one?

To be honest Dom, by the time you've imported one into the UK it could cost more than that. Plus, even if you left the button on the flap its still the correct shape compared to the USMC shirt. As a guess I was thinking the collar is the same height as the BDU.

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what exactly qualifies as an Alpha and Bravo service uniform? The search yields nothing and I've not seen any sticky referring to such.

Nobody has made a set yet as far as I know, so this is the reason your search came up empty.

Service Alphas include the green tunic and necktie (second from right).

Service Bravos are the same minus the tunic (long sleeved shirt and necktie, first on right)

And Service Cs are short sleeved shirt, no necktie.

Hope this helps.

Well i have scored almost everything for my C's all i need are to have my Drop Ribbons ordered and mount them and maybe come up with a few other flashy add-on that would be worn with this uniform. but here is the link to my Build page i think it came out good.

On the subject of caps, if we're assuming the USCM uniform is based on the USMC, isn't the correct version for enlisted men the garrison cap rather than the cover that so many people are buying? In addition the belt would be a brass open buckle on a web belt instead of leather.

retrogarde wrote:
Agreed. As a PFC I'd feel funny wearing a fancy hat like Gorman, so I'm wearing a garrison cap inspired by Aaron Horrocks.

Here's a photo, but my shirt has improved quite a bit since this was taken.

I agree with both of you that the garrison cap should be 100% A-OK and a smiled upon option. In real life Marine Service-C they are very much part of the uniform. Anyone with better info can tell me if this is incorrect, but it was my understanding that in the modern Marine Service C uniform, both men and women may wear the Garrison Cap, but the option of the 'hard framed' barracks cover is very real and very common (differing style between men and women but the option is not specific to officers).

If you wear the Barracks Cover (often called a visor in foreign military services) basically, you're straight out of bootcamp, or you're a dufuss, a dweeb, or a by-the-book-dipshit-butter-bar L.T. like Gorman. We're only issued one "frame" for the barracks cover, and we get one green cover for the Service Uniforms, and one white cover for the Dress Blues. Usually, Marines will just leave it white and wear the Piss Cover or "Piss Cutter" Garrison Cap instead. It's much more comfy and practical. The only time I could ever see myself wearing a Barracks Cover in my Service Uniform again, would be if I was to report into a different unit, which has to be done in full Service Alphas. I however consider it an honor and privilege to serve in Force Reconnaissance and I'm not about to transfer out.

I don't have any good photos of my USCM Service Charlies, but I found these:

And here's the link to my Service Charlie Uniforms:

And I still have the correct white-boarder "oversized" U.S. flags

The internet doesn't help much. You can read all of this and get confused:

But here's a better break down:

Service Uniform ("greens")
Service Alpha: Green pants, and green coat
Service Bravo: Green pants, long-sleeve khaki shirt (w/tie)
Service Charlie: Green pants, short-sleeve khaki shirt (no tie)

Dress Blue Uniform ("blues")
Dress Blue Alpha: blue pants, and black coat w/medals (restricted use)
Dress Blue Bravo: blue pants, and black coat w/ribbons & badges
Dress Blue Charlie: blue pants, long-sleeve khaki shirt (w/tie)
Dress Blue Delta: blue pants, short-sleeve khaki shirt (no tie)

This... I can sell you a brand new in the wrapper USMC Short Sleeve Khaki Shirt, for $20. If I have your size. I have a 17 and a 16-1/2 left in stock.

Ok, so the uniform I have is an Officer C (or Enlisted D (??) Dress Uniform) based on what is provided. A Female Officer C would be the pants, shirt and garrison cap.

Sorry guys, but with all this discussion, I am going to stick with my Officer Cs. That green hat is just too ugly for my tastes.

The Female Uniform Vicky has is an Enlisted B and I am having problems finding an Enlisted C. I think this is one of those moments when you can just take a little bit of creative license as long as we are all pretty similar. Ladies, what do we want to do about this??

Have to say I prefer going full 'dweeb' as well.

While, as I said, I fully supported the 'piss cutter' as an encouraged choice (more options never hurt anyone) I'm quite sure carrying over negative attitudes toward the barracks cover is crossing into "fun killer" territory. That particular current preference is not one that I chose to imagine survives 200+ years.

Maybe just to be safe, I too will give myself a battlefield commission on the drop where I actually wear my service Cs, then when I get home I'll bounce my rear back to corporal for "unacceptable performance of duty" after my conduct in the bar is discovered.

Amen Bigbisont. Basing a uniform standard off a single example is pretty hard to do, and drawing from real world examples is kind of a necessity, but why bring 21st century baggage into it? I'm sticking with my Garrison Cap because it fits my idea of what "fictional future me" would wear, and honestly is what I see Hicks or Hudson wearing too. But I certainly don't have a hatred of the Garrison Cap or those who choose to wear it.

Putting too much "USMC" in the "USCM" is really unproductive and --as you said-- a fun killer. Next we'll be saying that the Army stripes are a violation of some 19th century dress code...

No, my unform is an Enlisted Servce C. The hat doesn't make any difference to the unform, it's the shirt and tie that change.

I think your white hat looks great. If you wear it with a khaki shirt and blue skirt it's Blue Dress D. If the skirt is green then it's not an actual uniform as the white hat is never worn with a green skirt.
