The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have a minor problem with my new shirt. As many of you know, I am a very, very busty woman and at times this causes problems. Like now. The name tapes curve a little bit around my chest. So my question is - do I cut them down a bit and reseal them or just have them wrap around my chest. It looks better full with my drop ribbons, but I don't want to be the one that makes everything look weird.

And on a separate note - the women's USMC shirt I have is twice as thick (and itchy) as the men's! Damn!

According to every military uniform spec that I've seen, the name tapes are supposed to be the same width as the pocket.

That being said, this wasn't reproduced in the film. Location and width varied from costume to costume.

If you're following a Military Spec, they should be the width of the pocket, and if your curves make them arc, that's just how it goes.

Women's shirts don't have pockets. That is the problem.

Well, I just checked some pocket widths, and they're 5.25".
That's about as much help as I can offer right now.

I would say its your uniform go with whatever makes you feel comfortable because if your not then that will show through far worse

Not to sound like I'm making light of this, but I have the same problem in that the tapes curve slightly and look like they are sinking into my armpits. On top of this, the curvature of my chest makes the drop ribbons look like they are sitting on an angle.

The advice I was given was not to "cheat" it (or try to angle the ribbons so they look straight on my chest as they would not line up with the nametape).

I would offer similar advice of not cutting down the nametapes as it "may" make the ribbons look odd.

However the decision is yours and I don't think anyone will frown on your choice. :)

I measured it up. It looks best if I like it up with the collar. That means most of the UKCM ends up on the chest and so does Majoros. I am doing my best to make this look ok, but to be honest, it looks better on the men's shirt I have.

Edit: Can I just say it was much easier to put all these patches on when there are pockets! Lining them up with nothing to go by is a bitch!

Not sure if someone has already asked but I had a few questions.

Where is the best place to get the rank patches?
Also where is a good place to get the name tapes done with the correct font?

I've always purchased my rank patches on eBay. Search for "US Army WWII era khaki rank patch "

Camotech can make your name tapes. http://camotech.com/Tapes.htm

Seconding the Camotech tapes. There are some sticklers who will argue that drawing it in in marker is more accurate, but the Camotech tapes are very well-made.

I've recently swapped my Garrison Cap out for a Service Cap (or Barracks Cover, if you prefer).

The legit, real USMC button that holds the red cord in place. Take that off. You didn't earn it, you don't wear it.
