The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

EDIT: after some sweet talking I got YouTube to play the video. Cool stuff indeed!

Just an FYI guys, he's a member on the StarshipModeler forum. If no one beats me to it I'll send him an invite to our site today.

Edit- I posted there and invited him over.

Between the dropship Willie posted and this APC I'd say RC is pretty great for Aliens stuff:

Looks like it's built around one of those quad helicopters, and judging by the way it bounced off the ground towards the end, I'd say it's probably built with foamcore or something equally lightweight.

Hey guys, my account just got activated. That's my quad there, yes it's made out of foam, mostly to scale... mostly. Used the Colonial Marines Technical Manual and scaled everything up from there. Ideally I'd like to use EDF's but it's going to cost a little more than what I had to get that going. I have a link on RC Groups, outlining what I want to do with these things.

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1889884

I would really like to be able to get these licensed and start selling them, I was hoping to get on kickstarter and get funded for the project, but before I do that I want to find out how I go about getting approval from Fox. If anyone knows the best way to get a hold of the studios or even toy manufacturers that can work with me on this I would love to hear it.

Yeah I mean I could do that but if I actually go approval to make these I could go on someplace like kickstarter and actually get funded to start mass producing them.

seriously cool...

I'd have one in a heartbeat, but considering the large pile of scrap that I turned my P-51D Mustang into, in retrospect, flying is probably not my career path.

Would you do the body out of a soft foam material or use something like a light, thin, plastic?

Great job on the "prototype."

What are the measurements of it? It looks pretty large.
That's a good thing. ;)

Quad rotors are inherently pretty stable, MUCH easier to fly than a plane or a single rotor heli.

And EVERYTHING is easier with cheap modern gyros. Heh, you should have been around in the r/c heli days before gyros! Those things were a nightmare!

I'm currently looking into material options. If i can make molds and do my own plastic and it was light enough I would go with that in a heartbeat. Machining foam wouldn't be difficult either though, still looking into all my options and whether or not I can find someone to just buy the idea or if I can get licensed to make them myself.
