I found a good way to attach wooden smart gun arms that could be adapted easily for all of them.

You simpliy get a U.S. Tactitcle Belt/ spat cave pistol belt align the holes so that it still fits you waist or around your armour

IF METAL BALL AND SOCKET system: attach the last socket on to a small plank of wood then put nails/ screws through the holes so it won't go through either the belt or wood and simply attach the wood to the belt

IF SCREWED ON: if your smart gun arm is screwed together then find a way of attaching wood to the arm or attaching the arm to the belt.

You've kind of confused me. (which to be fair, isn't exactly hard.)

Are you saying that you screw a block of wood into the belt, then attach an arm to that?

If so, I can see what your saying, but as I found out last weekend, a steadycam and smartgun weigh a bloody ton. The vest is designed to be load bearing, and place that load onto your shoulders. Even with that, your back hurts (although my vest still needs some fine tuning).

If the smartgun and arm were made out of almost weightless material (like thin vacuformed plastic) it may be feasable but with any sort of weight you would run the risk of hurting yourself.

Aye, having it all on just a belt will REALLY bugger your back - Likely hurt your ribs too, at least down one side.

I suppose if you wore the actual LC2 suspenders with the belt, it would put some of the weight back on the shoulders. If you have absolutely no load bearing vest, it could be better than nothing.

At least a "Tactitcle Belt" can be used to make a standard/cheap Camera Operator vest look like the Operators vest used in the movie.
As MattRendar, Scapey and skapunkninja wrote be careful if you want to have a solution fit for a Con.

The vest I use has back protection and I do appreciate it at least after a day on a Con. :-)

I would be bringing my smart gun that is only a rough design so its a light rig so I will be working on making it accurate. At expo you can see how weightless mine is.
