The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

 Post subject: Steadicam/smart gun connection

Hey all.
Does anyone have a good accurate reference picture of the connection between Steadicam and smart gun, or any advice on what works best. I'm about to rig my two together and would like to make it as screen accurate as possible.
Cheers

You may want to check M56 topics like "Rendars Smart gun kit" from MattRendar:
http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12933

It's showing Matsu latest version on the "L shaped interface" between the Gun and the arm.

This approach from principal perspective is SA.

SA pictures from Harry Harris web page: http://www.harryharris.com/sg.htm

I personal like to use a ball joint, which is used for camera tripods.

Frank

Matt makes a bracket for the smart gun that works great. Very very strong. IM using a codicam steady arm so he made me a special bracket to macth. Works perfect. Definately contact him for it.

I can only second this. Matsu also made my connector.
The question I was referring to is how to "screw" the connector to the Gun.

Here the SA way is what you see in Matt's topic and on Harry's amazing web pages.

@MattRendar: Thanks for sharing your pics. I'm still waiting for my Matsu M56. You are very lucky to have such a great art work.

Frank

My gun came with the bracket screwed into it already ready to connect to the arm.

Matsucorp makes a great M56 and a perfect connection to the arm.

I have updated my post http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12787 with the ball joint I'm using.
