Does anyone have a clearer picture of this logo or know where it is from? Is it original to Aliens? Attachment: I only question it as the suit is a partial re-use from Outland. But all the photos I've seen of the original costume are blank on the front: Attachment: So I guess my question is was this logo made specifically for the Deep Salvage crew at the start of the film? |

I'm afraid I don't know about the logo but I did notice just the other day that the salvage crew are wearing marine greaves painted yellow |

That's cool! I'm toying with doing this as a costume, but I'll probably use sports padding or some other (equally cheap) alternative for the lag armour. I was hoping someone would have fabricated the chest straps at some point but I guess Outland is pretty obscure for costuming... |

I've never seen Outland, so I just bought the DVD today ($4 bargain bin). It sounds great and I love the idea of taking a Western plotline and putting it in space. Was it High Noon they borrowed from? Something like that. I also whipped up a quickie version of the logo just for fun. Attachment:

It was High noon yes, also most of the people who worked on Alien worked on Outland even some of the models were broken down and used for the mine, I like to think of it as being in the Alien universe its that close in look |

Don't know if these will be any help but it looks like the patch says SALVAGE across the top as well. Attachment: Attachment:

Looks like there are some yellow letters (EVAC ???) just above the logo. Also, they are using the technisub diving torch (grip of the shoulder light) in its original form. Cheers, Stefan |

Awesome details in those photos! I agree that it says SALVAGE. I'll add it to my logo. Good eyes on the torch as well. Add it to the list of expensive bits on this costume. Sheesh! |

Attachment: Version two! It looks almost like the patch is bolted onto the coverall. Do you see those dots in the bottom corners of Mole's second picture? |

Here are some higher res photo's, as seen on the AA Blu Ray. There's also a patch on the arm. Nice project, good luck! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1311324/Archive.zip |

Awesome. We need a copy of that logo laid out flat for comparison. |

It looks like the patch on their left shoulders just has the word "Salvage" on them with a line on top and bottom. The font looks specialized. Also, I can I.D. one part on the back pack of the salvage team leader. The two thing hanging on both sides, one is pointing down, the other in an "L" shape, is a 95% complete Armatron robot arm toy. It was sold by a few different companies, but the one I remember is Radio Shack since I have this exact toy in my ownership from when I was a kid and that's where it was purchased from. It looks like the joy sticks may have been removed. And I have to say that's a weird choice and I wonder if the "real world" explanation would be that they are tiny manipulator arms? Seems that would be as effective as those tiny arms on T-rexes! |

Attachment: Version 3, built directly over ADC's high res picture. Dropshipbob: great ID'ing of the robot arm. The basic backpack shown in both photos is a repainted Outland pack with tubes redirected. Why they went bat-shit-crazy on the leader's pack is a mystery, especially since it gets zero screen time. Too bad as it really feels like a Nostromo Deck C prop. Interestingly, they do not appear to be wearing Outland jumpsuits. These are different and frankly quite strange looking. What's with the cloth draped across the front? The inside of the hood almost looks rubberized. Was the whole jumpsuit made of material like that? So many unanswered questions! |

I'm no expert on the things but it looks like a heavly weathered type of dry-suit, maybe a US or Royal navy one. The pic below is a junior size, modern day Kayak version but you get the idea:

Attachment: Here's a tweaked version where the size of the text compared to the logo is more in keeping with the photos. This is 300dpi and sized (I believe correctly) for printing. Dropshipbob: absolutely! |

Looking good on the logo! And if I may suggest, when you do the suit part, you could use one of those Tyvek painter suites. They are cheap, easy to come by and should be easy to alter without sewing. Take a look at SsgtBurton's astronaut suit he built on one of these, he has a thread in the OT forum. |
