The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

What color black are you guys using on the grenade launcher and barrel vents? I tried krylon matte black and it seemed too grey. Satin black seemed to shiny.

Suggestions?

Did you buff the satin with either a rubbing cloth or superfine grit sandpaper?

Hi there , when I did my snow wolf I gave it a couple of coats of non metallic silver and then a coat of satin black primer . when these had thoroughly dried I took some superfine 0000 steel wool and very gently rubbed the high spots , areas where it would get worn in combat, loading gate and the edges of the vent slots to highlight them . When iI was happy whith the finish I gave the whole thing a good buffing with a soft cloth , this worked well and it left the filled in vent slots where the shotgun is visible the real steel ones a different shade to the cage. what pulsey are you working on?

LOL. It's basically a steel wool cloth. Used for polishing metal. Alternately, it's a cloth impregnated with a chemical rubbing compound (think Never-Dull or brass polish). Make a joke of that one, Retro. :)

If you have actual metal bits, try some gun blue fluid/gel.
A dinky little bottle of fluid or tub of gel should be enough.

Haha, it was late enough when i posted i didnt't catch the alternate meaning. oops.

That plan so far is to spray everything silver, then satin black, weather it and then ill give a soft cloth a try and see if it will tone it down.

Thanks fellas!

The black over silver works really well , go steady with your rubbing back (no pun intended) but if you get too much silver showing just mist some black over the offending area and rub again . would post some pics of mine but don't know how to get them from my photos on computer to here , not very technosavvy I beat metal for a living so the ins and outs of posting pics confuses me!

Got her painted up. Still have to weather her. The satin actually looks alot better once it was all back together. Old G&P kit on top, Matrix on bottom.
