The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Honestly I think Gearbox got the Pulse Rifle sounding as close to perfect as I could have asked for in ACM. It's just fantastic. Who sells or makes soundcards for the Pulse Rifle that can incorporate a recording? It would be easy as anything to simply turn off the music and record the blasts.

Anyone?

You could just extract the files. No need to do a half-assed (no offense intended, just what it would be) recording from the game while shooting. The source files can be easily extracted and will be the best quality.

Well, can someone here (or lacking someone here, find a small Asian child who can) who can do that and share?

I'm not sure if the file packing (like a zip or rar file basically) structure uses an existing one or a proprietary packing system or it could be the files are even just there in the directory already and you can readily open them in your sound program or copy them (some games like Left 4 Dead do this). I haven't looked. I can have a look when I get home.

If it's a proprietary file packing system you may need to wait for somebody to write a program that can extract the files. I doubt it is though. It probably uses whatever most Unreal 3 engine games use.

I'm looking into it at the moment. It uses the same packing as Borderlands 2 (go figure).

It'll take some times since there are some 7500+ files that aren't labeled.

Go into a quiet room in the game. Turn down the master music volume. Plug in a recorder from your audio out put and then fire off a few rounds while recording.

Done this for a few bits on Aliens Epilouge.

Good lord that's fantastic guys thanks. Time to start building a "play" pulse rifle with all the proper sounds.

Listening to my ringtone, the shorter sounds probably want putting inbetween the longer ones more, but that's just personal choice. :)

Happy to help!

I'd keep looking to see if there's more, but hundreds of sounds of water and footsteps was getting a bit mind-numbing.

I should think this would do it and if it doesn't one of the other many units on that page will do it.

This a link to a PDF of some basic schematics of their systems http://www.bpesolutions.com/bpemanuals/sbexp.pdf

There's a guy over on the RPF who's offering custom made sound boards for $50.

I tried looking for the sale thread concerning the sound boards I mentioned but I had no luck.

Maybe if we ask PepperPete really nice, he'll post it. :)

Would it be possible to get the MT clips, Alien screams and Marine death screams?

Thanks for the PR clips by the way! :)

I'm probably alone on this, but I'd love the door or window shield sounds too. That low rumble makes me so damn happy...
