I found both of these belts on Ebay...haven't bought them yet. The first one looks like a pretty good OD Canvas replica of an M1937 belt. I checked it against Frost's and it looks pretty good. Second is an LC-2 style USMC belt. I looked at some screen captures and pics of current USCM guys, but it's hard to tell. Are these ok to use?

Thanks everyone...sorry for the noob questions.

First one is the correct type of pant belt, but the wrong color.

You want khaki color.

Ammo belt is not correct.

The pistol belts in the film were hand made. I'm too lazy to do that, and I use those types of standard pistol belts with my armor.

Yup to both there, the narrow belt should be khaki and Spat supplies that style of greande strap belt, so one of that style is fine.

Is it fair to say the material used for the webbing belt is the same as that used for the pouches and grenade straps? They look the same.

The belt for the pants is definitly a cotton canvas...the straping is a nylon webbing.

Received the LC-2 pistol belt today...it's a very good piece of kit. But now I'm torn...should I replace the nylon webbing belt that my armour came with with the LC-2, or no?

I actually got inspired by this posting myself and ordered it as well. I like it. I was using the older army LC2 belts (not the side release, the kind that had the big square front tab release), and I think this is def an improvement for me. Softer and more pliable. Personally, the deciding factor is flexibility for me. If your waist movement is restricted by either belt, the least flexible one is relegated to "officer costume" duty. At least thats how I'm looking at it.

I'd love to see a pic with it on Big...did you need to modify the grenade straps at all, or did they slide right over?

Well, I can't say I recommend my setup. I am in the process of scrapping it as we speak! But for what its worth:

-I scratch built most of my armor, including the grenade straps. They were from a backpack which I secured within the space between the sections of belt where overlap occurs (The overlap in the adjusting area).

-So I folded the end of the backpack strap around a wide flat piece of plastic and put the whole thing between the layers of belt.

-I then tightened the metal slides on the belt over the area where the plastic and strap were, was essentially sandwiching the plastic (which itself had the strap wrapped around it) between the two layers of belt.

You may be able to see in this pic that the fabric on the belt was so stiff it loops rather than folds flat on the buckle connections. Once I added plastic and straps to the mix of 2 layers of belt, then through an ab pad under it, it all was quite rigid. Nothing intolerable but now worth replacing for sure.

Now that I have a softer belt I went ahead and got some of Spat's grenade straps that will just loop over the top. Mine was a good setup on a budget, I will say that. It looked OK when standing. But its time to move on.
