The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So I tested some satin paint out today....Krylon hunter green. I think it's going to be a bit too shiny.

I've ordered all of the Tamiya paints, EXCEPT for the dark green, because I was planning on using spray for that. What does everyone else use? Or do you just hand paint the dark green as a base coat? If that's the case, it comes in 23 ml bottles...is that what I need, or do I need two for all the armour bits?

Also, I searched on the forum for a thread that details the stencil used for the name on the front. But the links appear to all be dead...?

Thanks!

Hmmm...green is wrong, and it's too shiny.

A couple coats of "dull/matt" spray will solve a lot of the shiny issues. I used gloss and satin in my paint job which were all dulled wonderfully by a light "dusting" (2 ft away) rattle can black to dirty it up, and 3 coats of matt spray.

On that note, I scuffed it up with some scotchbrite pads...it doesn't look too bad now. What do you think of the shade of green?

And thanks...I did buy a can of matte clear coat...so I'll try that too!

It's hard to tell from the photos, but it looks a bit too green...it'll probably look less so with a coat of camo pattern over it.

Hmm, it does look a bit more "Merry Christmas" than "Marine Corps".

It should be here:

But I'm at work and Dropbox is a restricted site so I can't confirm that it works.

You can buy the Humbrol armour green in a spray can - Dark Green number 30 if memory serves.

U can use modellers black ink if you find it goes the other way and comes out too light. Helps with the weathering as well :)
