The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

See here for more info.

After a bit of hassle with software, I've managed to use a laptop and my PC to salvage the disc and create a disc image that I can now cut to a DVD. I played a disc earlier and it played through okay, so I'll make some copies soon and post them to those of you who have non-working ones or want one for the first time.

If you have one that is a bit jumpy, you could try copying it to another disc if you have a DVD writer. I recorded Spiderman from TV to a disc about a year ago, then when I came to re-watch it a few months ago it didn't work very well, so I copied it to another disc and it worked perfectly. That faulty one had a sticker on it as well. I don't think I'll be using stickers anymore.

As mentioned in the other thread, here is some general info about the disc, for the people who don't know anything about it:

It is about 1 hour long, and has animated menu screens, and short 3D rendered intro for a bit of fun.

The beginning is in the dealer room and lasts about 10 minutes.

The majority of the footage is of the main stage where Terry English and William Hope answer questions (with John Shadwell showing up in Marine armour in the Terry part).

It finishes off with a couple of minutes of the signings, followed by the credits.

Note: The sound is quite low on the talks, as the sound wasn't very loud in the room. If you turn the volume up on your TV you should be okay. I find it okay, and can hear what they are saying.

The picture quality isn't brilliant, as it's from an analogue camcorder and was captured through a composite lead; all I had at the time.

Anyway, enough of that, let's get this sorted out.

People that have a copy that need a replacement disc:

Harry (2 copies)
Osmotic
Rook

I'll do these free of charge.

If anyone else has a broken copy that they can't copy to make a new working one, let me know.

Other people were interested in getting a copy, so you'll want to read this bit:

£2.50 per copy.

UK Postage: 50p
[edit 12/04/08 - these prices are out of date, or I made a loss last time]
International postage: £1.20 EUR; £1.60 USA

new international postage costs are here:

From looking at the Royal Mail site, the cost to the USA and Australia is £2.52; Europe mainland is £1.36 (which brings the full price - disc and postage - to $10.65AUD, $9.89USD or 4.81 Euros).

To clarify, my PayPal address is my email address.

[end of edit]

PayPal would be best if possible.

So, what I need is for people to email or PM me if they still want one, with their name and address. My email address is on my site - link in my sig. I don't want to post it here in case an email gathering web-bot can get it (my website one is disguised in the HTML).

Because of the sticker issue, I'll put these on discs that have a plain white coating on them. These discs are designed for printers that can print on the disc surface (which I don't have), so I'll leave them blank. If you have a printer that can print on discs, mention it here and I'll find the picture and post a link so you can do the label yourself.

I think that's everything.

Hi Paul

Email sent.

I have a printer that can print on disks so a link to the image would be great thanks.

I asked in my email if your paypal address is the same as the one on your site. If so, do you want people to just send the money or email you in the first instance and wait for you to instruct them to pay.

Cheers

Darren

My PayPal address is the same as my normal email address. I'd forgot that when you get PayPal payments it shows the address of the sender, so that should do on its own.

I'll start the DVD drive going...

Here is the disc picture, Darren.

Here is what the first run looked like, with the evil stickers

The cases will look the same this time. I forgot to mention that they are in CD cases. I hope no-one minds. Printer ink is the most expensive liquid on the planet, so I never print full DVD covers on any that I do for myself. The covers images are easier to make, too.

[edit]Axeman, if you still want one, I could drop it off at your house if you want? Just deduct the postage.

Well today I had the pleasure to have Paul pop round to my abode & have a chit chat & also recieve the DVD too.

I`ve enjoyed watching the DVD & I certainly wish I had been there instead of the article in Scifi modellers magazine I read.

Excellent job with the DVD Paul & again nice to meet you mate.

Hope we can meet up again, nice knowing I`m not the only Aliens fan in Middlesbrough :D

Thanks for having me round (and for you-know-what), and it was good to see someone else's collection and chat about them. I don't get to see much in the way of Aliens/SF collectables or props apart from my own.

Maybe you could pop round here next time and I'll introduce you to my Predator and Terminator heads :D

I'm glad you liked the DVD.

All the other DVDs are ready to be posted tomorrow.

A bit off topic, but im originally from Stockton-on-tees, I just moved to manchester about 5 years ago...

Spent pretty much all my time in Boro.

All the family are still there, and my girlfriend seems determined to move back there eventually.

Yes, it's still available. :)

I've uploaded the pics again, so you can see what it looks like (see up there ^ ).

I gave details in the first post about getting one, so anyone interested should read that.

I've had to increase the international postage costs (see first post).

The full price with postage for the UK is still £3.00.

As for the 2-disc set, there was an official video taken at the event, with a "behind closed doors" interview. I don't have that though.

Does anyone know if the official video from the LFACC ever came out? It's the one where a lot of the Aliens cast were there, from a couple of years ago.

I wasn't aware that an 'official ' video per se came out for the LFACC so I'm none the wiser on that one. I took around 250 photos of the HHACA and sat in on the ADI presentation and the 'Alien' one but didn't take up the chance to listen to the 'Aliens cast' one.

Something tells me peeps from here were videoing those presentations but I could be wrong.
