Thanks guys! I finished cutting out the right side, but that was about it last night.

MAA,
An mg42 would be nice, but I've already spent quite a bit on some new uscm armour and a pr. Budget wise I was thinking of making a german panzerfaust from pvc and found parts. I can also get a mp40 springer for about 20 bucks shipped. With some pvc pipe and wood I think I can make a passable mg34. You have to remember out here in California, they don't like realistic looking replicas.
All I got was the snout. Here are some pics of what I've tried so far. I'm waiting on the helmet to show up so I can gauge the rest of the mask.

This is what I'm basing the mask on:

Derek! Thanks for the offer. How can I forget the Jins I saw at DC last year. Did you know (forgot his name) was selling some casts on ebay a couple of days back? I almost bought it. But I decided I would try and stay true to this version's facemask. I'll let you know if I give up in frustration.
Joe, you're absolutely right. The plastic is much different. Interior plastic can shatter especially when trying to cut it. It doesn't etch and snap the same way as styrene either. There is a trick to get a perfect cut without worries of shattering. Heat the plastic with a heat gun. When it's soft enough you can cut it out with shears. Luckily I don't think the shoulders are gonna see a lot of stress.
Hello, my baby. Hello my honey. Hello my rag-time gal. Send me a kiss by wire. Baby my heart's on fire...
