The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Got lucky and purchased this piece of art from a gent in Seattle.

Seiko 7A28-6000 by Giugiaro

In excellent condition, plus he gave me a great deal since they can go for as much
as 800.

Will be wearing this on my wedding party day..

Good find Matt.

If these were cheap enough I'd love one to put on the mannequin when I display my Bishop costume. Things like watches and sweatbands hide the line between arm and hand. :)

That's a pretty good picture there. Harry, with a bit of TLC on a good print out on some foam or something
you could make a reasonable fake for the dummy.

Good idea there ADC, I never thought of that. Might give it a go & see how acceptable it looks.

Matt,
welcome to the club ;)
That one looks like it's in really good shape. Hmm, reminds me that I have to change the battery on mine...

Cheers,
Stefan

Sorry to necro-post this, but one popped up on evilbay recently and they want nearly $1500 usd for it!!!

That the heck?! What is so special about this watch? Surely the fact it is the same model worn by Bishop inflates the price some, but a plastic watch for 999 GBP??!?

Is the inside gold? Is it the most accurate watch ever made? I have no desire to own one, but just stumbled across this and have to know. Beyond the fact it was worn by a character in a movie, why is it so special?

Err... Firstly, it's a Seiko.
While not as expensive as a Rolex, Seiko is also far more than 'just a plastic watch'. If you want a plastic watch, you buy Casio or Lorus.
Even in 1986 a watch like this would easily cost around £2-300.

Why?

Because secondly - It's designed by Giorgio Giugiaro, one of the most notable car designers of the 20th century. Credited with the "folded paper" car designs of the 1970s and '80s, he was responsible for such classics as the Lotus Esprit, De Lorean DMC 12, Maserati Merak, Bora, Quattroporte, BMW M1, and the Volkswagen Scirocco... as well as this watch and they're only getting rarer!!

If your seller knows the watch's heritage, you can now add the fact that it's from Aliens on top of the price! :)

I took a closer look at the watch being sold and I admit my "plastic watch" comment was a foolish one. It looked like a rubber wrist band at first glance, but examination of the closeup shots of the one being sold reveal that to be far from the case.

The involvement of Giugiaro also went over my head as I wasnt born when he was doing his thing.

All of this is good to know. Another ignorant man has been educated. Thanks!
