I'm no expert on these, but I'd say they were possibly a little too big.

At there widest points they seem to be wider than your actual chests (especially on the wife) and may affect your arm/shoulder movements.

I really dont want to get known as the "make em smaller" guy...I think everyone keeps making them too big!

The actual plate is only ~half the bulk of the rig.

But to each their own preference.

ive got a large sized chest plate from Matsou and love it. it looks better when its bigger i think. but like bigbisont said, personal preferance.

ok so im taking it as on me it looks ok but i should make a smaller one for the wife will do that this weekend. but this build will be funny cuz she is only 5'4" she will be one of the shortest SG's here i think. and last night i spent a good 3-4 hours drilling holes into the SG kit i have so i can add metal rods for strength.hey 25-serria where does ur chest start and stop on urself that would be a huge help.

Well after a day well spent here is the SG so far. i am having issues on just where the footpeg supports go and just were the holes are drilled. and also wondering how i will mount the forward grip and have it hold the weight thinking a steel pipe and drilling into the body. any idea's on what other Gunners have done would help alot.

Well today in the mail was the left light and horn controler off of a 1984 Kawasaki GPz750. just opened it up and cleaned it all up so it moves alot easier. also got an HT1 at work that is welding up a metal front grip for the wifes gun. just need to mount the footpeg struts and the camrea and clean up the drum mag and attach that and the feeder. so this gun is coming along pretty good and also need to get the right foam grips tryin to go as real as i can with what i got. so glad the wife is loving her gun and will post pix when i get the grip mounted. Any help with ideas and PIX of how any other Smart Guns are built would be great. and no have not amde the new chest for the wife yet.

I think the size of it should relate to how tall your wife is.
The armour looks tiny on Drake but looks huge on Vasquez.

Thanks Reaper i will be making another one this weekend since i need to get paid so i can get more posterboard. but the SG is still at the last stage i said i still would like to see how and were one of our Smartgunners has mounted the barrel shroud(foot pegs) on the gun that is really the only thing that needs to be mounted i have an idea but want to be sure before i do so. and mounting i will epoxy and peg them on like i did most parts.

Ok small update. grips came in and they fit perfect. need to figure out how the drum mag is to go if its striaght on level or if its slanted if someone can post a pic of theres plz do so and same with teh struts would like to have this atleast built by the end of the weekend if not the middle of next week. and the wife just ordered the Arm and Rig yesterday we were goin to get the Membo rig but she said hell with it and ordered the one most people run from India, 775 bucks later lol hope its here in a good time and not waiting long.

EDIT: Well just finished the 3rd chest plate for the Wife. it seems just right to me and i have already started to Glass it. i say 1-2 more coats of Fiberglass and its ready for bondo. The chest i made first that looks right in size on me is already got some bondo on it as of now so i hope to have both primed tomorrow that is hope. would like to send in SG chest plate art to the GEARBOX Community input.

Is that a metal bracket or is it resin . The one that came with the kit? What khawaski grip was that again to?

Author:  cosmo_kraemer [ Sat Oct 20, 2012 6:15 pm ]
Post subject:

yes it is a metal bracket, being in the navy i had some1 at work that is a metal worker make it out of scraps. and its just screwed on i had him make it off of the one that came in the kit. Kawasaki GPZ-750 Left-hand grip they go for around 20 plus bucks on ebay. anything else just ask Matt.
