How do I disassemble my Pentax Lense and install it on my helmet cam? Are there any tutorials out there?

In a perfect world, you have the the back 'cover' for the lens. Then you just need to glue the cover against the body (may need to cut out some material so it fits flush depending on which kit you got). When the cover is firmly attached, just twist the lens back onto the cover.

If you dont have a back cover...eh. How important to you is it to someday remove the lens? Gluing it down is about it.

It also depends on who's helmet cam you're installing it on.

You're screwed.

You're going to need a box of razor blades, a drunk badger, 2 human hands, a camera, and 187 linear feet of pink duct tape.

Step 1 - unscrew resin lens by turning counter clockwise with hands.
Step 2 - attach Pentax lens by inserting into the camera housing and rotating clockwise until it stops.
Put helmet aside, we won't need it for the rest of the steps.
Step 3 - sprinkle razor blades all over floor.
Step 4 - wrap badger in duct tape. Quickly.
Step 5 - get the camera ready and watch the fireworks as the badger rolls around trying to get out of the tape!!

I also have the instructions posted on the Armor FAQ on my website (which no one ever reads).

I did read your FAQ page, but my lense looks like it is attached to something bigger, does that just unscrew?

i took an inch hole drill and slightly cut the camera resess so the back lens cap would fit in the body snuggly and allow me to take the pentax lens off if need be.

Which Pentax lens have you got?
Has it got an end cap on it to protect the metal threaded part?
If it has, have you tried taking it off?

here is a few pics of how i attached mine. it should be the 18 mm lense. as you can see, i cut about 1/16th of an inch into the camera body to securely attach the rear lense cap to the body with super glue.

Since not everyone has access to a badger -- drunk or otherwise -- here is another lens attachment option based on my helmetcam build:

STEP 1: After purchasing your Pentax 110 camera to cannibalize for its 18mm lens, do NOT discard camera body.


STEP 2: Locate proper tool (yours may vary from that pictured) to remove lens ring lock from camera body.


STEP 3: Relocate lens ring lock to helmet cam body. (close-up)


STEP 4: Insert 18mm lens, and twist to lock in place.


And you're done!
