The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So I bought that hat like Drake and Gormans, a canvas OD Rifle Sling, a khaki military cap, and I just got my invoice for the USCM styled female Corporal patches (x2) as well as the name tapes (My last name, and U.A.C.M.). I decided I will order both the beige shirt and the olive shirt, because I really like the style haha.

I also designed one patch so far, but am feeling a bit shy now, and I am not quite happy with it. I based it off the Bug Stomper patch, and made it alittle more Canadian... Not sure where I would put it haha.

Criticisms welcomed :)

When I get the Drake/Gorman hat and sling I will take pictures :) I am going to cut a part out of the back of the hat to make it adjustable with velcro and so I can put my ponytail through it. I will also add some trinkets probably to personalize it and wear it with the Olive shirt, and the Khaki military styled cap with the beige shirt

Using the gun off the "Peace Through Superior Firepower" shirt is a great idea! I think the patch is awesome.

Haha actually it was a photo of a custom made pulse rifle that I applied a "Stamp" filter to and coloured it myself :)

I drew the face freehand and the camoflauge. The body pose I traced and edited from a lame clipart haha

Glad you all like it. I want to do more but not sure if I am allowed to make official patches yet:)

Hah!, Awesome! I just outsmarted that website. They make up new names for their clothing, my guess is so you can't find it elsewhere... They forgot about the tag in all the pictures! *evil grin*

I zoomed that s*** in on the tag and made out the brand and found it elsewhere, cheaper and ordered it! Should be here in about a month (we only get mail 3 days a week out here)

Also I found some little jungle boots! In my size! Score! Need to put more on my credit card though :) (Ya I know they're childrens boots, but I only have size 2 feet haha. And Bonus, they shouldn't be too heavy either)

Way to go, an excellent idea. Glad to hear you have grabbed yourself a bargain. I hate it when some online retailers make names up of their own to disguise other branded items. When it arrives you can be left scratching your head thinking 'is this the one i ordered?!' Lol

I had to look up your location... Yeah I can see why you only get 3 deliveries up there! Laterally you're roughly 800km North of my location.

Glad to hear the positive updates. Keep us posted; I'm looking forward to hearing more!

Hah!, we are considered to be "North-West-Central", there are places way more north than us!. I am definitely the lone hardcore ALIENS fan here haha

PVB wrote:

Glad you could also find a use for them :)

I was suprised I even found them!, I have the HARDEST time finding shoes for my little feet!, especially ones without Dora the Explorer or Spiderman plastered all over them haha, I have a friend who is also in a wheelchair who has the same issue.

*EDIT* Damn!... I just got an email from the company I ordered from... They sent a full refund, because they don't ship to Canada... Why the hell is Canada selectable on their Checkout page!?!?! haha. They said it would be too costly. Also they don't think I ordered the right size (which I did order the right size)

Looks like I will have to wait for the other company.

I did ask another dealer if they ship to Canada.

I can only find it in Australia :(

Crossing my fingers!

Hey Moosh not sure if you have tried this site. I know they are a little more expensive but they do really high quality OD Jungle boots. http://www.mooremilitaria.com Aaron told me bout them when I told him I was having problems with how I kept getting blisters from the 30 dollar ones from my local surplus store. I am not sure if they ship to Canada or if they have your size but I know they have really high quality boots and they run about $70 bucks after shipping. Bought a set and have not had a blister since wearing them!

Thanks for the recommendation :)

I think the cheapies should be just fine. It's not like I will be actually walking on them haha, they're more just to complete the outfit. And with being cheaper, they should be lighter in weight, so they won't pull on my little legs haha

I just gotta figure out how I'm gonna get that shirt now... Without waiting til after October when the first place I tried can ship it to Canada

Theres another long sleeve version by the same brand that is also only available in Australia that I might try after if I like the short sleeve one (Which I'm pretty sure I will :) )

So yesterday's mail brought me some of my first items of my outfit :)

I have an unissued OD 107 Hot Weather Cap, (Just like Gorman, Drake and Frost)

An unissued canvas OD sling (for a duffle bag or rifle which I plan to put with my 18" Pulse Rifle, if it ever gets built haha)

A mini Metis sash, to pin to the hat (I am metis, so I thought it was a cool little personalization)

OD on Khaki USCM Corporal patches x2 in female size. (One for my ladies dress shirt [like Gormans], and the other was for a khaki patrol cap, but it's too tall to fit on the cap, so I will make a small hat device instead)

Name tapes (Will need to be trimmed down, but I won't until I actually have the shirt)

I am going to cut a portion out of the back of the hat and put a velcro adjusting band on it, so I can put my ponytail through. The head piece itself is very small (Z axis wise). I am also going to put some wire around the edge of the visor and put an iron on mending patch over it so it blends in nicely, cause the visor is really soft and flat (as you can tell in the Gorman up close briefing scenes) and looks pretty... weird haha, reminds me of a duck bill! I want the visor to be more curved and have a modern shape. if I butcher it, I can always order another :) I don't think it will fail though.

How about putting the sling on a large OD bag, like the gas mask bags used in the film?

You could put a block of light foam in it, to fill it out, with maybe a red + on it as a medic bag?

Good to see the progress on your costume. 8)

Great detective work. Looking good. Proceed! :)

I :LIKE: the PR patch (would be great to have a Smart Gun version).

Do you also have the rang sign for the cap?
If not I could bring one to DCon and ask a member to bring it to Canada, just PM me.

Frank

Haha, I never thought about a smartgunner sasquatch! Might be possible!

And I am assuming you mean a "Rank sign"? I was thinking of just using a sharpie and doodling on it like Drake's... I thought of a couple things I would put on it, heres one :) :
