I'd probably suggest that you come to a couple more events before considering opening your own regiment under the UKCM to be in charge of (especially since we already have a Northern regiment).

Unless you are looking to start a group independent of the UKCM. In which case no problem...

The drops do seem very appealing iv been to some of the star wars ones and there selection process and clearence, although I get it seemed to take the fun out of it a bit.

Mostly worried that if i didn't come with something good ie a group or decent enough gear I'd be shown the door upon arrival because of this or be stuck (as I have in the past) as crowd control or a spotter and not feel too involved in the days

So what iv taken away so far

Uniformality ish ( tagged armor open to interpretation careful on the swearing )
Camo not the biggest deal breaker
I'll need to check with police on pulse rifles ( they get funny over that, and im not painting one gold lol )
Have fun
Not too rowdy
Knives permanently slung even if rubber or resin
And keep paperwork handy to own over zealous shop assistants at charity events

But as for the Freebooters. And again respectively towards Simon, Pixie, Jon and Jason. They have other things that come more important and responsible for i/e families and jobs. etc. Which is very hard for them and they make great efforts to come to the events. And we miss them all dearly.

There are a couple more members that are Freebooters. That take great pride towards the regiment. But this is merely classed as groups. "Divisions"

Exactly. There aren't really enough of us to bother sub-dividing any further than we currently do... And anyway, it's not like the divisions themselves have any real meaning other than a different patch, and the fact that the Scots can outdrink the Northern and Southern English folk together.

You know I literally just researched this. I was thinking about trying to find and/or start a DC/NoVA group. I think this thread gave me the best summery of the prevailing vibe on the issue. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2446&hilit=group+regional I think the gist of it was "do what you want, baby! (but dont expect hundreds to fall in line [be it for mentality or lack of numbers])"

We are very narrowed down now. But this is due to some members (not naming names) personal problems and of course there are a lot of people with families. Of course with the greatest and kindest respects. But as for the Freebooters. And again respectively towards Simon, Pixie, Jon and Jason. They have other things that come more important and responsible for i/e families and jobs. etc. Which is very hard for them and they make great efforts to come to the events. "Divisions" We are all one big family. Friends and dearest brothers and sisters. If you want to start a regiment, as i seem to be thinking what you are getting at. This does seem impossible as there is the Midlands/North/Northwest. I'm also suggesting that you just take more time to get involved with the AL community and also visit some drops. You'll find most members aren't any part of a division. Not, because their are not allowed. But merely because they don't know or show interest. But, see how it goes. I must apologies as i've had a few and just gagged in. But once you come to some drops. You'll realize that respectively we work better out as a freedom form of costuming group. No forms or scheduled times/place to be in. Hope this helps. -Callum

Mostly worried that if i didn't come with something good ie a group or decent enough gear I'd be shown the door upon arrival because of this or be stuck (as I have in the past) as crowd control or a spotter and not feel too involved in the days Just spent lots of money working on my hicks and Hudson rigs and with me looking to rig the two with with busts and in stances (wileysteve does amazing work) and maybe a full size egg or two with some facehuggers it would be nice to get them out there and shown

If you have something that fits in with the movies, games or comics in some way then that is cool! And, generally, we don't use/need spotters. That said, even if you have no costume at all, people are welcome to come and hang out at shows or afterwards in the evening. The UKCM is as much (or more?) of a social/drinking group as it is a costume group.

Because we're all sexually deprived! -Callum Seriously though, I'm in North Wales but originally from the Wirral not far from Callum (who ISN'T in Liverpool Mantroon! and shame on you Callum for letting that slur slip by! ) so I guess I could throw in my lot with a North West Detachment. I see no reason why there can't be a North West Detachment/Section/Sub Squad as a Sub Unit of the Freebooters without anyone needing to get there underwear in vortex. Perhaps if the present squads (Homers Heroes/Hadrians Wall Crew/Freebooters) were instead referred to as Platoons or Companies then people could form more local squads or sections as sub units within their overall geographic areas unit? The problem with calling them squads is that a squad is generally the smallest military unit with no sub units. Just my tuppence worth, feel free to tell me that I'm talking Sh!t3 people usually do!

All this talk of organised squads and sub-units, fire-teams, platoons and that is getting WAAAAAAAY too serious. What the UKCM do is just messabout silliness, really. We don't take it seriously in the SLIGHTEST! Homer's Heroes are named after someone's pet hamster, FFS... This is NOT the military. We are a bunch of grown-ups who play dress-up for fun and to hang out together, have immense fun, meet stars of fictional TV and movies, entertain the public and show off our collections of fictional military props. That's it. You will never be given an order in the UKCM, never be made to do push-ups or run with your rifle above your head, get a High & Tight haircut, leap on a grenade for someone, go kill the enemy, or anything even remotely like that... and if someone does try and give you such an order, the generally accepted response is, "Feck off, ya tart", usually followed by a remark about BOOBS, Anuuuuuuuus or Nubbly Wanks. So long as your outfit looks like it belongs in Aliens, you are sensible about your weaponry and you don't behave like a total prick, everything is good! If you still want to go all army barmy and organise everything all strict and military-like, with designations and ranks, command structures and comms procedures, fine. Not many others will be up for it and jokes will be made...

The word 'informal' is probably the most poignant. The UKCM don't really give a toss if you're only 99% screen-accurate... heck, even 50% is probably fine. They're much more concerned with whether or not you're a decent person!! We are here to have fun and enjoy life.

I used to be in with the whole marine armor then just got bored. I'd love it again though. But costume is not that important. Uniform:- Armour, Flight suit, flak vest...... (Alternative, nothing at all) BDU's:- Spat and Aaron Horrocks are making some now. (Alternative, nothing at all) Police and Pulse Rifle? I would keep it shush. And just take advice from members here that have de-acts/broken airsofts/Functional/Resin HAVE FUN - Or Mantroon will still a finger up your TUBA.... Were all rowdy, but we mean it well.
