The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I agree:
Alien= theatrical version (I haven't watched the DC yet, I really didn't see the point)
Aliens=special edition (what other version is there?)
Alien3= special edition (but it doesn't really make te film any more enjoyable to watch)
Alien resurrection= hate both
But, the Special Edition of Resurrection has more character development, some interesting added shots (like the pullback from the alien bug in the opening shot) and our first real look at Earth. Does it still suck? Hell yes, but just a hair less.

Alien= theatrical version , The Directors cut is good , but would have been better if it was cinema version with extra footage not a re-cut of the Movie
Aliens= special edition , much better than Cinema version , makes more sense
Alien3= special edition, Much Better than the Cinema version
Alien resurrection= Special edition , better opening and better ending

I'd have to say:

Alien: Directors cut because I like the extra story that put in
Aliens: Special Edition...you have to ask?
Alien3: Whatever they call the extended version. Adds more to the story and helps save the movie
AR: I couldn't tell you the differences...oh wait you see earth and a crashed Sulaco right?....that one :)

Alien: Director's Cut, because I like the added footage and the extra story it gives
Aliens: Special Edition, see above
Alien 3: Original cut, because the CGI is too crude and the alien bursting out of a living dog makes more sense than a dead cow
Alien Resurrection: hate both about the same with the extended cut just slightly less

Alien: Original Cut, as it's paced right.
Aliens: Special Edition.
Alien3: Extended Cut (I'm in the middle of re-cutting my own version which is this just with the dog-burster as it makes more sense, as stated above.)
Alien Resurrection: Original Cut, although i haven't seen either cut for so long i reserve the right to change my mind. :)

Huh. Thought there were CGI sequences. Guess it was just really crappy blue screen then, but either way it really stands out as fake.

The only CGI was the head cracking at the end but yes i agree the rod puppet was not done very well infact id like to see it replaced with CGI and im not a huge fan of that media
