The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Love it man! Hell it looks better than my kit, and I've been collecting this stuff for over 10 years.

Looks just the job buddy :-) have you got any grenades to put in the straps ?

Personally I'm not keen on the plastic/rubber stuff that goes around the neck of the chest and back plates I usually swap it on the kits I've made up for "black car edge rubber" granted it's not 100% accurate but it does look a lot better than the stuff that's currently on there :-)

Now you need to get signed up for your first drop Marine :-)

out-of-nowhere "well, here it is" posts like this featuring ridiculously top notch rigs are like a little kick in the ass for me to step my game up! Its like I look at my stuff and kick a rock then lament my own sad state and half finished gear.

Very, very nice. Truly something to be proud of.

(although maybe that mannequin could use a 5-oclock shadow and a scar or something... )

Looking great! What is written on the back of your helmet? I actually did an image search for the Serenity logo from Firefly as that was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.
You'll have to have a photo taken of you in the armour too...

Looks great! When is your first drop?
For the grenades you could contact Spat or check eba?.

Gunny63: not only does it look good, it strangely makes sense, what with the Weyland-Yutani logo being in Firefly...

Looks great!!

Is it a Spat kit or from another source? Either way, a costume to be proud of.

a quick break down of what is there.
the BDUs were specially commissioned from hong kong, cut and colour is as screen accurate as possible, patches were also a special commission, they are printed as per the film not embroidered.
armour is spat, i chatted to spat and he confirmed it is a very early set and i discovered it is actually a ww2 m1!! (as a side, i was looking at a pic of dietrich and i'm sure the helmet she had on was a fixed 'D' bale helmet with tan straps, that is the holy grail of m1 helmets!!) i have removed the previous owners name/grafitti but left his excellent camo paint job on. i added my own name and grafitti and i have upgraded the armour by elasticating the shoulder pieces, i added the helmet straps and moved the lobster plates slightly as well as lining them.
i added the grenade straps and have detailed various parts to suit my taste in a 'worn' look, resin grenades have been added until i find some metal ones, the pulse is a TM/GP and the motion tracker is the MR one.
and the boots are '66 dated vibram soled, i have had them and 'battled' in them for 20 years and they are still sound!! now just need pouches and a knife for the left strap and some 'personal' adornment and he is complete!!

Looks great! What sort of "personal adornment" are you thinking?

well the original concept of the uscm is 'vietnam grunts in space' so i was thinking about going back to source, maybe a p38 on a chain hanging of the webbing strap or something along that line, maybe a white c rat spoon poked in somewhere, a dog tag on the webbing, that kind of thing, hudson had his eagle, hicks had his lighter, stuff that gives the armour 'life'

Sounds cool. I was thinking to hang a rabbit's foot off of mine, maybe tuck a bottle opener into the helmet band.

Nice ideas. Ferro had a rabbit's foot on her holster.

i've done vietnam reenactment for many years and spoken to many vets, and the consensus on putting stuff on the helmet was you put stuff there you will need in a hurry but dont want to rummage in a pocket for it, hence the bug juice bottles went there, also if they were crossing streams etc, anything you want to keep dry went there, but you had to be prepared to lose stuff that you put there cos it will eventually fall off!! so i do tend to avoid putting stuff on a helmet

You could go with a Rabbit from platoon theme and have a bushy tail coming out the back of the helmet.

the mk2 turned up today, so my marine is now finished, he has the screen pouches, knife is taped on, 'personal' adornments added (a vietnam period white c rat spoon, a p38 and a 'war' medalion), grenades are on, a s10 resi case as a carry all. i am seriously pleased with him, next step is to get some pics and get out to meet people!

I've got a p38 tucked in to my helmet band. You can't go wrong with that!
