Many of you may already know, but there is news flying around that an actual Alien suit was stolen from the set of AVP2. DarkHorizons.com has some news on it, including a link containing a description of the Alien's look for the new movie. The description sounded pretty promising, including the return to a certain design element not seen on an Alien since 'Aliens.'

I've just been informed that an actual alien suit has been stolen from the on-location set of Alien vs. Predator 2! How this happened, or who has it, is unknown at the moment, but it seems the thief is trying to unload it online to the highest bidder!

The Fox brass is surely fuming over this after all the protection they've put in place surrounding the storyline, cast, release date, and most of all, creature designs. No doubt this will only result in increased security, and even less details coming forward.

Now, on the bright side, I have seen pictures of the suit, which is certainly more reminiscent of the James Cameron design from Aliens, in that the ridged head alien is back! The body is also more so based on the creatures from Aliens than it is on anything from Resurrection or the first AVP. Overall, the look of the alien is more Gigeresque than what we've seen in the last two films, with a marked bio-mechanical feel to the limbs. I think ADI has really captured the essence of what the alien creature should look like, next to Giger himself, of course.

So, it seems the Brothers Strause were definitely serious when they said they want to get back to what made the original films so great - the creatures! The images I've seen are of a raw suit, so I can only imagine once post-production visual effects are added in, how awesome these things are going to look. Lest we forget these guys are visual effects experts!

Couple this with the fact that the Predator costumes have undergone a similar redesign, and I think it's safe to place any worries concerning the creature designs to the wayside.

These are images of the (allegedly) stolen Alien.

It's hard to tell from the photos as they're quite small but it looks like a floppy puppet that's been rigged with bullet-hit squibs; which look like they've been fired leaving the holes.

Having said that my pyro experience isn't huge so if there are any experts here who'd like to comment please do.

If it's genuine it looks like someone might have rescued it from a skip.

I think your 100% right about it being a dummy Alien, Harry.
It seems the dome is missing from it too?!!? To me, it looks just like AVP 1 Alien...
