The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Same prep work that I normally apply to the ammo boxes but, it just doesn't want to hold up during the application of the vinyl labeling. In the end, there is a decent color match but...

...we get battle weathered results.

Looks like I'm staying with the Aervo product as applied to the cases in the background. Better color match and more durable finish.

The three in the foreground & flarebox are finished out with the Aervoe product. The others (far left, right, and back) are now combat surplus.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :D

Good lookin out Tom, it's a wonder that you got any paint to stick to the boxes at all.

Duly noted and thanks for the tip!

Is it just me, or did Caseguard change the style of the boxes?

Cheers,
Stefan

Nice!

I had a similair problem when painting parts of my Jinroh armour (primarily the pauldrons made from garbage cans). My solution was to washed them down with alcohol and roughed it up with some acetate (nail polish remover) before painting.

Thanks, Matt. They are pretty slick to begin with and I imagine that there is some sort of mold release residue on them. But all of these were lightly roughed up and cleaned before paint. Eh... dunno. One of these days, I plan to call on you for some more of your tricked out weathering techniques. :D

You are correct, Stefan. The logo has changed a little. But one of the things I really like is the incorporation of a real, two part, hinge as opposed to the flexi-hinge they had before. One less thing to break over time.

Thanks Dave. I was using Acetone as the primary cleaning agent. I'm guessing it is essentially the same thing. Maybe a little stronger that normal nail polish remover. Not exactly sure about that though. Sounds like it worked out well for your armour. Yes?

It could have been a number of things but eh, lessoned learned. :D

I wonder how well bead blasting will work...I bead blast some of my vac form parts sometimes and it creates an incredible bonding surface.

I know the HDPE is different than the vac plastic but it might work.

You got my number bro call any time.
