The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

hello all. where is the best place to buy the webbing for the uscm armor? the only place i have seen that sells it is the resin movie reproduction company and the price seems a little steep. can someone point me in the right direction?

If your are looking for ready made webbing for the USCM armour then yes that is the only one you will find. I and most others made my own using webbing I bought from a surplus store. That's probably your best bet mate.

Cheers

I wouldn't go with them.

Too expensive and I believe the webbing is black.

Moped1967 made some webbing straps much better than
them.

He's the one who got the USCM name tape thing going.

I have line art of accurate harness straps if you need
something for reference.

Webbing on the original costumes was green, not black.

Well with the reference picts I got, the belt and grenade

strap front, the webbing is cotton OD. Some of the interior

armor webbing is black, but it was sprayed green.

Not to say it varied from actor to actor to stunt though.

Plenty of reference images online.

These are a good source of green (nylon) webbing, if you can get them cheap:

I nabbed a pile of them cheap off of eBay years ago and cannabalized most of them for various projects. The webbing (not so much the shoulder pads) takes paint well, in case you want a different shade of green.

Didn`t some one post before the original SU Webb straps are Actually Black painted OD?

I`m sure I read before that someone said that.

At the end of the day though it`s down to the individual if he wants OD or Black & wether they are willing to put that little bit of work in or just buy a complete set.

Jason, I believe it was a mix. Some were spray painted, others were dyed.

They're also known as "load bearing suspenders" and part of the entire "alice pack web gear" ensemble.

Personally, I found the best match visually, if you are going to mod original webbing items for use, is 37 Pattern cross straps with the webbing loops added afterwards.
