The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I wonder if Ridley actually believes his own bullshit? He makes beautiful movies but he can't lie to save his life. What a waste.

His movies are a money grab, nothing more. They aren't artistic visually and don't really lend much more material to the universe...and I'll go ahead and say the same for any other sequels he makes.

I don't know if he had any official input into killing Blomkamps Alien movie, but I can imagine it was implied one way or another that if he went ahead with his film, Ridley was out. And just why in the hell would they need him helping on Blomkamps version? Blomkamps already got a good enough track record that he doesn't need help, and Scott is just getting stale.

I swear, the more I hear from him, the less I like him.

Hey, he's made a sequel to Alien and now Blade Runner, what's next, Monkey trouble? 1492??
But hey, he'd do that because there's more material there, more "world to explore", not because they keep throwing money at him...no sir.

How many more prequels can he make for Alien before the timeline puts it right on the doorstep of the original, thereby rendering it's events meaningless??!!

Ridley says Blomkamp didn't even have a script, yet Cameron, Weaver (and Ridley) all praised the script a year ago. Hell, Ridley even made Blomkamp change part of it to match his prequels.
Ridley says it is "shooting your big toe off" to have two Alien movies come out. Has he not heard of Star Wars? A prequel and a sequel released just a year apart. Marvel and DC release multiple films a year. He is out of touch and has a massive ego.

This is my biggest fear actually. When you see all the bigger events and creatures that lead to Alien and Aliens both stories change in perception. In both stories the Alien menace was discovered. That discovery looses weight with the prequels. Substantially so.

EXACTLY!!!

ALIEN was scary because it was new, the creature was new. If you have Prometheus, then Covenant then two or three or four MORE movies....by the time you get to ALIEN, the whole thing is going to feel "played out".

I know FOX was wanting to pump more life into the property, but was this the way to go?

I thought the prequels were not supposed to feature the xenomrph..

Its bad enough that the fucked the visuiation I'd had of the Space Jockey for the last few decades, what else are they going to fuck now.

If you want to make terrifying film about the beasties then et them after the events of Aliens, or Alien3 - surely, and have them evolve.

I almost dont want to see Covenant, or 2049...
