The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yup, and here's what they look like:

Today I painted on the light tan colour.
Tomorrow I'll paint on the brown then the white and possibly a dark green colour.
This is a rather slow process as the humbrol paint takes a day pretty much to dry and I don't want to try and pain over wet or tacky paint.

Managed to add the dark brown paint. Thanks to this lovely weather we're having at the moment, the tan coloured paint was dry in a few hours.

It's VERY hard to make out the dark brown, but it is there. Tomorrow I'll add the white and maybe the dark green if it comes back.

It's looking really good now mate.

Did you ever think of using acrylics? Just think for speed, and even finish. Also reduces the tacky effect. Then again, if your happy with humbrol paints, feel free to pfft me :D

Looking good! Tidy up that black camo a bit though. Also please dont drybrush on silver for the shipped paint effect, paint on the silver with a brush with lots and lots of small/medium dots. Gives a much more realistic effect.

Then rub the whole thing down with MIG black/smoke pigment powder and seal with a matte spray clearcoat.

Cheers for the advice.
I haven't cleaned up the black yet as I still want to add green and white paint. Once that's been put on I'll know what parts need to be cleaned up. Also I want to add a matt black over the gloss black as I find it a bit too shiny.

I have some smoked pigment powder to rub on once all the paint is dry. I did some metal weathering on my pulse rifle using the dot technique. I'll use that again on the armour.
You'll also notice I haven't cut some slots in the armour - oops. No matter, it can be done later and I'll paint over any white that's exposed.

I'm hoping to get it all painted and strapped up by Tuesday or Wednesday. I've got a bunch of rivets here and all the webbing and clips. Which reminds me. I have to weather the webbing before I put it on. A quick blast with the electric sander and then a 24 hour soak in some 'dirty' paint water will do.

It's looking really impressive considering what you started out with.
Well done Venger you must be proud of what you've achieved there?

Small update today. I painted on some white, nothing too overwhelming, just something subtle. The paint didn't turn up this morning so I can't add the green. What I might do later is clean up the edges of the tan paint - might as well do something rather than waste another day.
Hope the paint comes tomorrow so I'll be on target to finish on Wednesday.

I would say dude, the brown isn't as bad as you thought. It shouldn't be too bold, it works well I feel. If you don't mind me asking, was the black gloss paint?

All the paints are humbrol. I can give you the numbers if you like.
The black gloss is number 21.

Playing catch up again. You've surpassed yourself with this Venger! Hard to believe it's the same rough looking kit from the first image! I said it in your PR thread but you must have the patience of a saint! :D

Cheers.

John. :)

I'm the same as reaper - that's why I asked if it's gloss. But matt over the top should give a decent finish. Or vallejho/games workshop matt black now you have a strong humbrol basecoat to add resilience. Give you the perfect matt finish. :)

I would say, don't worry about the edges of the tan camo too much - looks good and you don't want bold perfect edges :)

To be fair, for a brush-on job, that camo if ace. Better than any I've tried to paint before :) still think you've done a brilliant job on this kit

Small update.
The matt black and green paint arrived this morning so I've added that. The black paint in the picture may still look like it's gloss, but it's just wet.
I'm hoping by this evening it will be fairly dry so I can give it the smoke powder rub tomorrow.
I can't cut the strapping yet until I've had a test fitting which can't be done until the armour is dry.
I can't see there being any further updates today, but I'm sure there'll be something tomorrow.

I'm still unsure about the custom artwork I want to do. Also I really should add my surname to the front. Might do that later.

Unexpected update ahoy!
So I managed to do the smoked layer and give it a clear coat of matt sealer. Later I'll probably do the silver/metal weathering. Tomorrow will involve the strapping up and riveting. Fingers crossed I'll have a photo of me wearing it tomorrow.

The helmet is painted and will be detailed but won't have the camera glued on as I'm thinking of changing it.

Not much of an update today. I had planned on having it all finished by today, but I ran out of the plastic clips and the washes for the pop rivets.
