The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Remember this youtube clip, guys? The one with working gameplay footage of a supposedly cancelled Aliens DS game, set to some rockin' fan made music? Well, it's back!

SEGA just announced "Aliens: Infestation" for the Nintendo DS - good news for those who haven't made the jump to the 3DS yet - and according to our friend in the company it should be hitting shelves in September.

You can see some screenshots at SEGA's Flickr gallery HERE. Take a good look at the second shot in particular, the one with a Marine on the right taking aim at a chestburster coming out of someone's chest, and then take a look at 0:38 into the YouTube clip at the top of the page. It's definitely the same game. :)

If nothing else, this should help tide us over until Aliens: Colonial Marines releases and Prometheus hits theaters! Fingers crossed.

Is it just me or is any one else thinks the graphics look ... Well urrrrm CRAP ???

I guess I'm a bit spoiled by modern game systems but going by those screen shots it looks like something that was played on the old 8 bit mastersystem from sega !!!

Apologies to those of you own one of these DS things but I certainly won't be existing my money on that game :-(

It's you. The DS has very little 3D grunt, take it from someone who has made a game for the system. So going 2D has allowed them to put a great deal of character into the animations (which are looking very nice) and detail in the environments. Fits in with the control limitations of the system, too. Hoping for some Metroid style exploring the environment with this one. Good 2D sprite work is a rapidly disappearing skill in the industry.

If games were all or mostly about graphical realism then people would just look out the window or watch Avatar over and over. ;)

I see you points guys but i thought the whole point of "new" games were to bring better graphics better game play etc perhaps its more aimed at the retro style just like we all probably played as kids on the good old Commodore 64 ;-)

Im with you Cooper, looks too dated for a brand new game regardless of the console it's on.

We got my son the 3DS a few months ago. I got him tha Raymon game for his first game.
It is the same Raymon game that came out a few years ago. I will tell you this,i was blown away by the 3-D of the game.once you playing and your eyes are focused the world becomes clearer than the graphics. might sound stupid but its true. for me the 3ds is awesome.
Until you play the new alien game in full 3-d its gonna be hard to judge how itll look by watching the video on youtube.I think for most of us getting a 3-d Alien game of any kind will be a treat.

It's people like you that make my job so difficult ;), you sound like my designer. See all the shiny stuff in Crysis 2 and suddenly want the same on your phone :p

It's on the DS, which was released in 2004, meaning the hardware is coming up to 7 to 8 years old. Hardware that was designed to be low power back then to keep costs down and battery life long. A 66Mhz processor and a whopping 4Mb of RAM.

[scotty]I cannae change the laws of physics[/scotty] (doesn't exclude the occasional artist 'miracle')

I don't know, next thing you'll be saying you don't watch any films made before 2000...

I'm not always looking for awesome graphics and realism, I'm looking for entertainment.

This looks entertaining, but I won't buy a DS just for it...not 'that' entertaining ;)

Back to 'Alien Legacy' on the PS1 for me until 2012

Gameplay should be the most important decision in buying/playing/enjoying a game.

Visuals and sound should always be second.

IMHO, YMMV, RSVP, etc.

It arrived today from Amazon. 8)

Had a little play and got stuck; ended up in an area I'd dropped down a shaft to (so no way out back the way I came) and locked doors higher than my security clearance everywhere.

Figured it out in the end; throwing grenades straight up at breakable panels above you is a right pain in the arse. They kept bouncing down to the ground nearby or at my feet, instead of blowing the panel above my head.

Also, finding the save room wasn't easy, then found one fairly near the start; look for doors in the back wall that automatically open like the doors in Star Trek when you walk past. :)

I jumped when the first Xeno (won't say which stage of it) appeared.
It takes a lot to make me jump, so well done to them on that. 8)

Sound effects are great. :D :delta:
