The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

hi peps just need some clarification on something, now i know some add graffiti to their rifles and on a smart gun i can i understand as lets say the minimum is only two smart gun operators so only 2 smart guns, but it would seem to me and looking at the movie that the pulse rifiles are generic are in racks and the Marines grab any thats availible so the chances are they may not get the same weapon twice so to personalise would be a waste of time?

This is my rifle! There are many like it, but this one is mine!

In terms of the context of the film, yes I would agree that they were not always paired with the same rifle.

However for costuming purposes, your rifle(s) will always be your rifle until you sell it or give it away. You might loan it, but that would mean it eventually coming back to you.

I put graffiti on mine. 8)

They may be in a certain place on the racks in the film, they'd know which one is theirs and grab it. Plus I think it's Hudson or Hicks who has a 'D' on the bottom on the mag plate which would also help identify it (unless they all have this of course!)
I assume that the flame units are generic as there's no real sights to zero (obviously the M-16 handle has a rear sight but there's no forward).

I've called mine 'Tilly' :)

I'm guessing your calling yours something like 'Ace'?

Well in the movie Hicks refers to his M-41A as a "Personal friend of mine."

So perhaps Frost handing out the weapons wasn't as random as it looked? Maybe Hicks' rifle really was "his" rifle?

But if you are "going by the movie", no one had graffiti on their pulse rifles regardless of whether or not a Marine had the same rifle for every mission.

Maybe they have little namecards on the rifle racks, like the coathooks at school? :D

Some of the UK guys have graf on their PRs... digging for a pic. Scapey ... are you the evil one showing us all up by not being screen-accurate? ;)

EDIT: found.

You should only ever apply official Colonial Marine graffiti, using Humbrol #10727 - 'Amber-Tinctured Off-White' paint, in official Handrwiting #17 font...

Seriously, your rifle. Do whatever you want.
I'd only *suggest* not doing anything too obscene, if you plan on taking it among the public.

Yeah, I forgot to take the graff off before I gave it to Odin.
Hoping the new owner removes it, as that's one of my favourite lyrics, and it's going on my next gun too :)

I don't carry a pulse, but I've taken to putting graffiti on my rifle.

In addition to "VALERIE" under the bolt and some kill notches above the trigger.

However, regarding Hicks' "close personal friend" line, I think he was just referring to the M-41A in general. When he was giving the list of what was salvaged from the APC, he mentioned there were only two pulse rifles with about 50 rounds each, and one of those was the one he was showing Ripley in the later scene. Since Hicks was not using his pulse for the battle at the Atmo processor (and didn't seem to have it anymore), it's unlikely one of the ones recovered from the wreck was his personal weapon.

Just to clarify he says "There is 4 Pulse Rifles with 50 rounds in each, that ain't so good." Ripley then asks, "is that the only flamethrower" He then replies "Yea it is only 1/2 full the other one is damages I don't know bout that one". In the SE he then continues to talk about the Sentry guns.

Yeah, apparently I suck at remembering numbers. Also proofreading.

Point stands.
