The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

You could just draw them on a bit of clear sheet and whack that on the screen.
OR
Do the same in front of the camera, but an inch or two away so it doesn't go blurry.
OR
Muck about with your camera/screen settings a see if its got a reticle or grid pattern built into it.

Other than that, I have no idea!

Wooo, can you link to that plz?

Also, are you setup to record as well, or just straight output to your screen? Gas recoil gun-cam = AWESOME! (and probably unwatchable, but still AWESOME).

this is a pretty good link to see the system I have -

I simply removed the monitor from the goggles,

and will mount it inside my M56 Headmounted Sight eyepiece :D

& no, no record capability. But that would be neat ! Combat footage !!
Just like the Lt. was seeing on the monitors inside the APC !! ;)

i am using the same lens system, and dont see why you couldnt use a small video recorder. use a splitter before the cable goes up to the LCD and there you go, your watching the feed from the camera AND recording it.

Now, getting back to the gun sight bits.
These pix show the bullet camera already inserted into its screen-correct ( resin cast ) housing.
Which is in turn shock mounted on the mount with silicone -
and the mount is then bolted to the barrel shroud with 4-40 socket head cap screws.

Using the EyeTop video glasses for the eye peace of the SG headset is a very good idea.
The camera housing and the lens looks great. Where did you get it from?
Looking at the housing and cable you store the 9V block also in the housing, right?

AirSoft Smart Gun what can I say ... please keep posting.

Thanks for asking!

The camera itself is a "bullet" camera I found on eBay -
You can see it clearly in the front views and rear views -
The housing is a resin casting. I bought a resin kit for the smart gun,
to have something to refer to while building the 'working' version.
So I simply took the fake resin 'camera' and carefully drilled a hole through it
from front to back, the same diameter as the bullet camera !
After prepping and painting the resin camera, I simply pushed the real camera
into the resin one with a tiny drop of rubber cement so it cant rotate.

The battery to power the camera will have to be inside my chest armour,
as it needs 12 vdc . The power and signal wires run in the same conduit
which can just be seen in the overall picture if you squint a little bit !

Yellow banana jack is the video feed, and the black jack is the power connection.

Thanks,
I would have guessed it was a pinhole cam with its typical two video jacks and the power unit inside just by looking at the jacks.

How will you do the connection on the chest armor?

In the movie the beyerdynamic mic connector was used as connector from of the cable coming from the SG headset.
I will use a resin connector inside the standard video cable of the eye toy, what’s your plan?

My sneaky idea requires what we call "artistic license". I figure since there is an armour plate on a smartgunner's chest
Why not another on his back ? ? Similar to the front one, but a bit taller and deeper.
Inside I plan to have two 7oz. paintball CO2 tanks, manifolded to one 3k regulator.
This will provide 200 PSI to the smartgun -
it will also provide that pressure to a second mini regulator which will provide pressure to the two air cylinders in my support arm.
each segment of the support arm will have an air cylinder as the support spring.
so the arm can be "pumped up" with the mini regulator until it just perfectly supports the weight of the gun package !

first for today is the chest plate armour.
You can see here it is done up in thin masonite.
Once primed and sanded super-smooth it will be used to make a mould.
Then the actual armour can be laid up in the mould
using marine grade epoxy with fiberglass cloth, carbon fiber, and kevlar layups.

The other mould I am making is the one for the eye piece part of the head set.
Here is the wood and plasticene 'plug' for the eyepiece.
It is made in two parts, with a seam down the center,
so the mould will be two parts, seperable along the seam -
thereby allowing you to remove the completed part from the mould
without damaging either of them !

I bought the Hot Toys Vasquez Action Figure !
These are 1:6 scale.
Using the chest plate from Vasquez, I carefully measured each panel,
and then multiplied by SIX to get the full size parts !

And I am very pleased my thread has helped ! That is the main reason I decided to share my work, so others might learn from my mistakes !

If you could give Matt or me the dimensions you used for the armour then it'll help me make the pepakura file for him :) (that's if you wouldn't mind of course?)

It's a shame I had to sell my Vasquez and Drake figures last year!

This build is looking so good already, I love homemade props and not simple kit-builds.
