The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey all!

Long time lurker and big-time fan of the forum.

I started this journey last fall with Rob over at Chefs Creations and since its arrival a few weeks ago, it's been a pleasure to build this kit with my son. Big thanks to BigbisonT for his youtube tutorials. My dad brought this movie home in the 80's on VHS, and like most of you, I still regard it as the best movie ever made. Building a set of armor has been a goal of mine, and so far a great experience! If anyone has any questions about the process, please let me know.

Colors are the same as referenced in BigBisonT's videos. Used the liquid grate polish from Amazon for the first weathering layer.

On top of one of the pics is a piece of production-made armor from Terry English for color reference. The colors are still spot on.

Keep up the great work on this site. Love visiting!

Backplate with production-made armor laid on top. Pretty close!

Hudson Front Plate with no weathering. What size of font is best suited for this based upon Mooshe's files???? Made a quick sketch/template that I transferred over to the armor based upon the proportions from the original armour I observed. The skull graffiti is much smaller in real life.

Quick Update:

Did a quick mock-up after finishing up the strapping. Three layers of paint/weathering in this pic. Basecoat on shoulders, raw camo on shoulder bells, and the first pass of weathering with grate polish on the chest piece. Looking to wrap up the shoulders this week.

That looks awesome! I like the shoulder straps OD, that's a cool look. That's some minty fresh shef camo.

If you're referring to Mike Rush's .ttf font "USCM Armour Stencil" - I believe Mike made it so the desired font size was 50 pts.

Recently I had a special request for stretched stencils from Felix "Burner" Berner. He figured the stretched versions were more accurate. So for "HUDSON", he says it should be 10cm long by 1.8cm high

Thanks! I used a 45 font and it fit well for this set. Good enough!
