I tripped across this site about Dik Daniels photos: 1980 Westercon and there was a cool pic from an Alien costume Attachment: retro.jpg I wonder where Roberta Brubaker is now? Mike P.S. Check out the hot mermaid in the link. Yes, young Marines, we had hot babes back in 1980! |

Wow. If you ignore the hair and the faded film grain, not too much has changed at cons has it? Love the Alien spacesuit! |

How flipping awesome is that!?! The suit actually looks pretty accurate considering the materials used. Think about it- you couldn't exactly get hi-rez screengrabs for reference pictures back then! Depending on when this pic was taken I don't even believe ALIEN was widely available on vhs or beta tapes! The hockey gloves certainly look like they could be very close to the screen accurate gloves. The blue boots look like those cheap, thick snowboots that were popular in the early Eighties. I wish this pic was clearer! Kevin |

Even the Alien head looks pretty damn spot on compared with most of the early 80s ones that you see. |

Definitely! I just had a browse through the rest of the pics; I'm actually surprised (and a little disappointed) at the lack of Star Trek costumes given Trek was having a resurgence around then. I do recognize a Buck Rogers (1979 movie) Princess Ardala costume. Oh and the "Saturn 3 Robot" ("Hector" wasn't it?) is actually the "Art Exhibit" towards the end of the page. Kevin |

80 chicks!!! Those costumes are awesome, man... They actually look like they've walked off a Sci-Fi or Fantasy film set. Some of the really bad haircuts even add to the outfits! |

I love that Saturn 3 robot costume, a very ambitious subject to tackle! |

No freaking way! It's the WIZARD OF SPEED AND TIME hisself -- Mike Jittlov! ![]() All I can say is that if you don't know who this gentleman is, just drop his name in any respectable Interweb search device and watch the magic unfold before you. |
