The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

HI all
Took these pics in my workshop today. Just getting a feel for how all the parts are coming together. Getting the itch to finish this like NOW! Still lots to do Have to make the other half of the barrel vent, the stock, get the shrouds reinforced etc. Thought the pics looked cooler in black and white. Enjoy

Yeah that looks great so far. I'm curious & have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

What parts are you using in addition to your home grown barrel vent? Real SPAS 12 cage for example?

Also is it going to be an airsoft AEG or inert prop replica?

Regards.

John. :)

Im using a cyma airsoft thompson and I will keep it fully functional. The SPAS is actually an airsoft. I got it with a box of pulse rifle parts a while back. Its not the same size as an actual spas but the difference is very small about one cm and is made of plastic. I reinforced it and made it rackable. Doesnt cycle shells but the homemade bolt racks back and fourth.

Thanks mate,

I did wonder about it being an AEG from the upper receiver. Having had a a closer look I notice you've used the first part of the Thompson outer barrel. It looks to be a stonger solution that the aluminium connecting block in my G&P kit.

You've done a great job on the SPAS cage too. Looking at the pic's I would've sworn it was metal! :like:

Be sure to keep us posted as you progress through the build.

All the best.

John. :)

Thanks for the compliments! Yeah using the aeg thompson foregrip mount turned out to be one of my better ideas.I mounted an aluminum plate to the top of the spas cage, this helped reienforce the plastic. I then mounted another aluminum plate to the foregrip. The two plates are connected with two allen head screws and a third allen screw in the receiver.

The spas was painted with dull aluminum and the flat black. Then rubbed of some of the black. Im hoping to finish soon.

You're welcome. Looking at what you've done with the foregrip mount it really seems a shame that G&P didn't cotton on to the same idea!

Good luck with the rest of the build.

Thanks I cant take all the credit for that though, I saw one of Matsuos airsoft mods and modified it to fit what I was doing. Adding the aluminum was all me though. I also added a magnet to the bolt so it stays in place untill i move it. May not have time to work on it this weekend though.

Ah I see. I'm not really that familiar with Matsuo's products but they seem to be very highly regarded on here & I've seen some great pic's on various threads.

... Still a good mod though & nice idea with the magnet.

Anyway, have a good weekend mate, whether working on the PR or not. :D

Matt (Matsuo) is the premiere source for metal and resin PR parts. He is an awesome guy and also a real gunsmith. What else could you ask for?

To the originator of this thread: Your PR looks great. The custom barrel vent looks fantastic. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. I haven't been here long but straight away I noticed that his name crops up loads. Didn't realise he was a gunsmith too! 8)

Cheers.

Thanks Chad. Yeah Matso is the goto guy for anything pulse rifle related. I purchased my front block from him. Looks awesome now that the paint has been worn off a little. Been pretty cold where I am and although I have a heater in my garage I dont use it because oil is very expensive so havet worked on anything. Working on a barrel stove setup so once I get that out of the way Ill start building again
