It burdens me to once again announce a fallen Colonial Marine. Monday the 28th of November; we lost Drew Martin to the eternal darkness. Many of you that have been to Dragon Con would have spotted Drew at spats side. Drew was one of the most stand up of men that I have ever known and his loss will forever spoil Dragon Con for me. Drew was actually the 3rd USCM marine ever issued armor after one of our favorite movies and I will forever raise a glass in his Honor as we have with Chris.

To my NY brothers, the pain in your hearts is something I cannot help with. But please remember our brother and raise a shot or a pint in his name, do not mourn his passing but remember his honor

Just learned of this last night....still just lost for words.

God speed Drew....thank you for your service to this nation as well as your support and friendship in the USCM.
Never forgotten brother!!

Saddened to hear of this. I've only meet Drew the one time I've been to D'Con, but it has been obvious how much he was loved by so many. Rest in Peace.

It hurt my heart (and still does) when Paul told me on Sunday night. Drew will be missed very much.

Kevin, Yes... Drew has been having a number of health issues in the past few months, in and out of the hospital lately. On Sunday, his heart stopped and didn't want to start again, from what we've been told. I feel for his family, as they lost their father around July of this year and now, Drew is gone as well. :(

It was Kevin.

I'm sure Spat will fill in more details as the days turn to weeks and we all begin to heal a bit, but he had some heart trouble before Thanksgiving and it was being treated.

There will be a wake Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon and night (11/30 and 12/1) and funeral mass on Friday morning 12/2. If anyone is going to be in the NY City area and would like to try and pay their respects, send me a PM and I will send the arrangements. And if you can't be there, raise a glass to one of the finest men I have had the chance to meet and spend time with.

Drew will be missed by many. I'm honored to know him and I drape my badge in his honor.

Damn!

My condolences. I only met him in the last two d-cons I attended, however in that short period he came across as a great guy.

Drew was one of the first to welcome the Brits at our very first DragonCon. Within the first hour I was fully versed in DragonCon etiquette, American politics and the size of American shots of JD!!! I will never forget his booming voice stating " You sir are of good character... TO WORLD PEACE!! "... as the 5th shot went down.

It was always a pleasure to talk and drink with Drew and, as with everybody, I will miss him greatly.

You sir ARE of good character! :D

I just can't believe he's gone. I've been offline for the holiday weekend, and this sad news is what I come back to. He was one of the sweetest, most welcoming people I've ever had the privilege to meet, and he leaves behind a great big hole.

Farewell, Drew.

Greatly saddened to hear the news of another fallen Marine. I met a guy named Drew at my first Dragon Con last year and introduced myself after I hearing my name being called several times. We had a friendly exchange while waiting for the parade to commence. Would this by any chance by the same Drew I met in 2010?

RIP Drew, I didn't know him as well as I would have liked, but I liked what I knew.

He was always welcoming to us Brits at D'con and there was always a good, friendly vibe surrounding him and his friends.

My thoughts are with those friends and his family.

Sorry I haven't posted in here in a while. It's been a tough time.

Drew passed away on Sunday, November 27th from (as far as we know), complications due to blood clots. There's still no official cause as of now, and I doubt there ever will be.

Many of you did meet Drew at either DragonCon, or maybe Farpoint a couple of years ago.

His family has created a Facebook page for him, and if you have a moment, feel free to stop by and check out the pictures we've been posting, post your own pics, or leave a story or note. Don't forget to "like" the page.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm new here & didn't know Drew. Nevertheless I'd like to pass on my condolences to his friends and loved ones.

Speaking from personal experience myself it's an enormous tragedy when people in our lives are taken from us much too soon.

Regards.

John.

Drew had just turned 40 in June, and had lost his Father to cancer in July. His family has had it very rough.

Hi Spatman,

That's a terrible tragedy, especially at this time of year when families should be together. I've lost two friends from my service days to cancer over the past five years, the most recent in October, so I can genuinely sympathize with you.

Please accept my sincere condolences during what is no doubt a very difficult time you & Drew's family.

John.

Another loss to our community and even though I never knew Drew, my condolences to his Family and friends. I know D*Con 2012 will have a tribute to him as was the case with Chris and rightly so
Though at this festive time I raise my Horn to Drew, to Chris and my Mum and toast them all.
