The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

The G&P kit is a good route to go down, but you need to get yourself read up and comfortable with the VCRA before you try to buy a Thompson to go in it.

On the subject of dropship pilots weaponry though, Spat sells a shorty PR. Could be used the same way like current tank and aircrew sometimes pack a carbine variant of their force's main weapon.

Cheers buddy was looking at the HGC from the states.

Dont mind building one but the cost for the 2 looks the same as buying the complete kit.

The G&P kit is kinda fragile. I wouldn't even want to use it for airsoft. I might once, just for publicity...
Also with a bit of dinking around, the mag baseplate easily falls off.

The HCG M41A is very impressive at first, but after trying it out for a full con, it has it's short commings too. But I wasn't worried about it falling apart on me.

My first PR was a G&P and I never had any problems with it. The mag baseplate I never really figured out so it was just taped on!

You can get a great replacement mag base plate for the G&P, but not sure Matt Noble has any spare/is planning on making any more?

Yes, I have the mag plate issue fixed with two options.

They are 3D print abs parts with steel reinforcement pins and resin mag tabs.

Mag bottom replacement. Good for airsofting with winder access.

Mag insert: Retro fits into existing mag base to attach to 190 magazine.

I have 20 mag inserts that will be ready soon.

There are three issues to fix on the G+P kit to make it durable.
1. Mag insert/Mag bottom replacement
2. Stock lock mechanism
3. Eliminate handle creaking noise.

As for what to recommend, I say...

1. Go with spat's rifle if you want a great value, but not a bunch of moving parts
2. G+P airsoft is some issues, but can be fixed. Working Counter is nice.
3. HCG. high price with cast Aluminum shrouds around a bunch of resin parts. Some have some barrel droop issues on some units.
4. Find a Matsuo rifle second hand
5. Find an SD studio rifle second-hand (going to be pricey)
6. Find an Icons rifle second-hand
All other kits or recasts, I do not recommend.

Do you have the replacement mag bottoms in stock?
If so, how much?

If you don't want a "hero" gun, Spat is the way to go.

My first gun is a Spat, I've since acquired an Airsoft Thompson and am planning to start collecting parts.

I still love my Spat for 'cons. Gets a lot of attention! I sometimes wonder if mine and Rook's are the only PRs in Minnesota.
