The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello to all.

To wire up the Racel headset to need the following items:

Shink tube (Black) (The stuff that shink when a head souce is added)
Wire cutters
Wire stripper
Fishing line crimps (Longer the better)
Solider iron
Heat gun or lighter

Ok the two types are 15 Balance and 16 Unblanced.

15 Balance Double speaker modle

Green & Yellow = Mic

Brown/Blue & White/Red = Speaker

16 Unbalanced single speaker modle

Brown & Wire = Mic

Yellow & Green = Speaker

The best way to connect the wires together is cut back the outer plastic sleeve about 40mm and strip about 10mm off the colour sleeves to shown bare wire.

Add shink tube to the bare wire with the 16 Unbalanced and cut shink tube about 25mm long to add the wires.

Crimp and solider the crimp tube to the wire. The than add the cut 25mm long shink tube to the wires to cover over the crimp and wires.

Add the 3.5mm plug or what radio you are using and do the same in stripping back the wires. Crimp these wires to the crimped one and solider on.

Than move the shink tube over the crimp and wire and using a light or heat gun shink the shink tube. Add a bigger diameter skink tube over the whole long and bingo.

Make sure to test the wring with radios each step to make sure it working right.

Yes Matt I remember seeing your post with the wiring some time back.

I wired my headset and helmet two or three years old but did not post any thing until I saw Dom at Dragon*Con and he like the fact the headset and helmet was working.

I will try and draw it out as pictures are better than word's.

We've had times at Drops when several of us have had working headsets. Most seem to favour PMR446 radios.

Half the time, they are great. Keep in touch with everyone, p**s about on the net, quote Apone. Good times!
However, the other half of the time you are "getting some interference from the structure".

I do recall one particularly annoying tw*t who kept asking me loads of silly questions and being awkward. You know, the type who comes on over and opens with, "Of course you *DO* know they built the Pulse Rifle using an M-60 machine gun, with a Stechkin Skorpion underneath and camouflaged this using parts from a Spectrum 48K.....".
DATA was on the net, I think, and I was able to suddenly receive an 'urgent message' and bugger off!
