Hey guys Im at a cross road and need some adivce. My UKCM kit is comming along nicely but there are times were I feel ive bit off more than i can chew. currently my costume looks a little like this Attachment: Im kinda going for the Gorman look with the OD shirt and trousers (which have full USCM patches) im also adding a Delta and a rank patch to the flak vest. The problem ive got is i feel like its missing somthing, Ive built a PIG and im working on a Smartgun BUT both of these are taking alot of time/resourses to build and make good. what could I add to this to improve myself for the NSC drop later this year? I was thinking pouches and a side arm but im not sure. any advice would be great! Thanks |

Headset of some kind? Ideally a Racal/Amplivox Minilite (model no. RA-150). Belt and pouches are always good. Matt Noble is currently working on a screen-accurate set. Sidearm, also good. I found a cheap, black cordura holster works well enough. Being a Heavy Weapons crewman, it'd also compliment your PIG. Perhaps a green baseball cap, like Gorman and Drake wear? The correct one is a "Cap, Hot Weather - OG 507". The label inside will read: Russ Krook III wrote: Cap, Hot Weather
Olive Green 507 DLA100-87-C-0363 8415-01-073-8724 50% POLYESTER 50% COTTON M&B HEADWEAR CO. It has a stiffener in the front forehead/brow section that gives it a "sharp" top edge at the hairline. There is no adjustment tab in the back like is found in a standard baseball cap. |

Putting patches on the uniform will make a big difference. You should also think about taking the rubber pads off the flak vest. You should just be able to unpick the stitching. There will be some marks left on the vest but once the patches are in place no one will notice unless they look closely. A cap or a Racal minilite (if you can afford one) would look good as well. Sidearm - definitely! Can't have a CO going up against Xenos with nothing but sharp sticks and harsh language. |

Belt order is certainly needed (not only for costume but carrying bits at drops). The Cap and with Racal minilite again must haves if you can. Though a bandana or beret if you want to be slightly different (UKCM not Screen Accurate) are also other options. |

Chris, having seen your OD's i think it would make a great officer. Cap and sidearm would set it off nicely. If you can sort out the holster i'll gladly lend you a pistol for NSC. |

Veeps are very cheap. Just put alittle effort into a plastic veep and you'll see results! |

If me and this man ever stand in the same room.....the world may implode...... Attachment: Thanks for all the advice guys, and thanks for the offer Matt I may take you up on that! apart from a VP or a 1911 what else could I take? Also ive got the patches for the vest as ive said, but the vest is too thick for me to stich though, im thinking of using "wonder web" to stick them on, has any one else got any better ideas? Thanks! |

Well as we have seen VP seems to be the standard sidearm and there seems to be some flexability on personal weapons too, so you could choose something else if that is easier or until you do get the right kit. Same with the headset too, yes the right one has been mentioned but I know peeps have used others as a gap filler. So don`t worry you wont be jumped on as in accurate. Hell the TECKNO VIKING wears BLACK Armour!! |

Are you sure the internal padding of the vest can't be removed, thus making it easy to sew on the patches? |

Failing that, can you not just whip-stitch the patch on and hook the point of the needle through the top layer of the vest material? That's what I do with heavily lined leather jackets. What's going on there, anyway? Just a Victory By Wings patch? |

CheifProfanity wrote: I'm not going to do a whip stitch......cos I don't know how.... It's just a rough and ready type of stitching, common with things like darning holes in socks. http://www.holiday-crafts-and-creations ... titch.html |

Are you replacing the Union Jack with the Stars & Stripes, as all the other patches and name tape is for the USCM, not the UKCM? |
