Developed over thirty years ago in the 70's and 80's, it had 'the look' and the caseless ammo which, sadly, didn't work. This has been discussed a few times here. And, the casless ammo did work actually. There are some videos of the gun firing on the first link you posted. And if I'm not mistaken, yes, this gun was Cameron's inspiration for the pulse rifle.
