The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey there Jester. Welcome. Once again, looks awesome. Did you have to modify the elbows to get that firing pose?

Thanks, bbt. No, I haven't modified the elbows, though I've been thinking about it (mostly held back by my lack of skill/experience painting). I did do extensive modifications on the headsculpt though, since the NECA Hunger Games figures seem to be slightly out of scale with all other NECA 7" figures. I ended up having to chop the thing in half behind the ears, trim a large portion off the back part and then cement both halves together again with green stuff and superglue, just to get the helmet to fit. The end result looks pretty good though, if I say so myself. :)

Looks great! I'd sand off the stupid rivets on the helmet though. But that's just me...

Those rivets...those....awful awful imaginary rivets!

Anyways, I forgot to post this. If anyone was thinking about the powerloader, it is arguably more expensive than you would hope...but it is quite good. TONS of moving parts.

Lots of people complain they cant get ripley to hold the controls but I don't see the problem. The grips slid, the arms move...just keep futzing with it and it will work out!

Earlier modifications: Hicks, Windrix and Hudson (and a hapless Predator for lulz)

Groovy! I'll never watch Alien 3, but the more non-xeno figures in this line the better, I say. I'll happily pick up a few of these guys for my Marines to fight. :P

Because it was originally supposed to be Hicks and Bishop's Awesome Alien Hunt, and then turned into something like an incredibly contrived rehash of the first Alien movie as written by a suicidal Cormac McCarthy, but why should the fact that I dislike it bother you?

My post pretty much stated outright that I've never seen it and never will.

Regardless, these WY commando figures look damn fine. I think a trio of them would be cool.

A bit ignorant on your part to critique a film without watching it but that's your perogative.

These figures are more than welcome, hopefully this will lead to the convicts and maybe even 'big coat and ear hanging off' or 'squished' Bishops :)

Indeed. I wonder how difficult it will be to remove the fur-lined collars and if they'll look all right without them. I don't want them looking like they're operating in a different environment than my Marines.

Not really. One would be hard-pressed to argue that the film doesn't replicate the premise of a bunch of frightened, largely unarmed civilians being stalked by a single alien inside an enclosed, industrial environment, only in a much more nihilistic fashion, or that the explanation of how the Sulaco ended up ejecting its occupants over a prison planet instead of arriving safely at Earth doesn't involve a highly-questionable series of dei ex machina.

Bit of bad news: NECA's apparently saying that their retailers want more bugs, fewer Marines.

Where did you hear that? I've heard differently from a few sources... I'd expect some fun surprises next month at Toy Fair ;)

Randy always says that. "Human's don't sell" will probably be etched on his tombstone.

However I strongly disagree. I am burned out on repaints, and I am DREADING this pending 'kenner tribute' line of aliens. If they don't give us more humans (especially marines) I will lose interest in the line.

Whilst I haven't brought the Kenner Predator re-does (so many of them!) I do like the looks of them. I'm quite eager to see what NECA does with the Alien ones. I don't think they'll be as simple as the Predator ones have been.

Crap. I hated the Kenner toys. I'm sorry to hear NECA wants to revisit that era of "what if" bullshit.

I hear ya. I also never considered buying them, but I liked seeing the more realistic translations of those things and the side by sides are amusing. They also didn't anger me because I never felt like the repaint was taking the place of another desired figure. It was like the predator line ran its course so why not get silly for a little while and have a little fun?

However, the Aliens has absolutely NOT run its course yet. There is tons left to make! If they abandon the film stuff to get silly with this Kenner tribute line before we get character icons like Vasquez, then I will be most put out.

haha. You didn't like Apone's "No Bugs" T-Shirt? I used to love them, but must admit I only ever played with the Scorpion, gorrilla, panther, and AvP 2-pack aliens. The others were quite obsurd. I tried to repaint several Jurrasic park figures to be the rest of the squad. Even at my young age I wanted the whole crew together.

In fact...I think I still have an Atax figure I tried to turn into Frost somewhere in my shed. The paintjob to change the skin color left a LOT to be desired.

But 'glory days' aside, it is a gimmick based on repaints and I do not approve! I am holding out hope for a smart gunner, even a generic one, so I can at least continue my customs.
