Well if I keep slimming down I can squeeze into this super small Blues Coat better and can consider its use for this purpose, I all ready tore the rank insignia and anondized buttons off it for my newer, 2 sizes bigger, coat (which needed service stripes added).
SSGT Burton, you have to roll with that sometimes. As a reenactor the public always thanks the group and usually they all have to point at me, and go, "We're just reenactors, he's one of the guys thats in the military for real."
Or if me or our retired man aren't there, they usually crack a joke like, "Me? I'm just an accountant, this is my hobby, but we have Police Officers, working Joe's, college and high school students, and servicemembers alike involved in our hobby." (Note three of our guys are accountants

) I know how ya feel. Its a bit offsetting for many and when they start confusing old US military uniforms or even UK/Commonwealth and GERMAN and even RUSSIAN (Both leave me scratching my head) uniforms for current US military uniforms, it just justifies us having living history events to set the record straight even more and hopefully do a little eye opening.
BTW I didn't quite see, where did you score the buttons?
