The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi gang,
My name is Mike and I live west of Chicago. I'm been a scifi fan since I was a kid, but only got into props/costuming the last few years. I can usually be found on the RPF, TDH, JRS, MEPD. I loved Aliens and have finally picked up my first Aliens piece, a SpatCave pulse rifle(one of the coolest movie weapons ever) kit.
I'm the father of 2yr-old boy/girl twins and I go to school full time for EL ED. I would love to put together a complete Marine eventually.

Greetings :)

I've long neglected joining up here. Most folks know me as Sid, I'm the tall 'freak' mentioned in one of the Toronto Drop threads (iirc) who also costumes as Snake-Eyes (GIJoe) and Jayne Cobb from Firefly/Serenity.

I met some of the folks on this board as far back as 2005, including meeting Cpl. Beaudoin who later on in 2007 got me into the UACM and joined in at DragonCon 2007 (I'm in the far back right corner of the DCon 2007 group shot). With the assistance of some really cool folks I'm progressing quite nicely with my own outfit.

Here's what I've got so far, it's still a work in progress so please be gentle :)

Greetings :D

Yup, got an offsite hotel (big round tower 1km down the street) where I'll actually have a bed for the first time at a Dcon since 2006. I've added myself to the Friday dinner but Sat I think I'm away with the Browncoats.

Cheers, looking forward to it again :)

Thanks and the armour pattern is loosely based on the current Swedish M90 camo.

It's a first attempt... the concept was to use modern day camo that sorta translates back to the stuff worn on screen so that it looks good, meshes well enough yet lets the armour stand out too.

If it doesn't work it's something a few coats of Krylon can fix.

Im Jonsey. My owner is a Aliens addict. Thats why he named me after that cat you all know. My owner is 30 something and lives in Scandinavia. He has many hobbies including scale modelling and writing short stories. He is also an amateur WWII and Vietnam War historian and the last 5 to 6 years he has been spending on digging up information about the first two alien movies uncovering the universe, creatures, weapons etc. that is before the franchise and latter films got to it, and lately struggling to put it all in to an 60 page essay. He claims to love this site and last night we watched Aliens again, he said it was the 43rd time.

He also likes to quote an angry viewer that once came out from the cinema after the premier of Alien 4 in our country and who was caught in a TV interview:

- How did you like the new film?

Angry look:- The first one was a great horror movie. The Second one was a great war movie. The third one was s**t and the fourth one was even worse!!!

My owner agrees that he couldn't state it more clearly himself.

/ Jonsey

'Nother newbie here. I just shuffled over from the repple depple at the RPF where I've been lodged since '02.

I've been wanting to build a PR for ages and took the plunge last Christmas to buy an Airsoft Thompson when they were on sale at Big 5 Sporting Goods. I've got a barrel adapter on order from our friend Tommin and recently bought a set of shrouds from Matsuo (can't wait to see them!). Inspired by the work of our friend stapleton13 I hope to build up the buttstock and barrel shroud myself.

I tend not to post too much, unless I have something that I feel is of value to contribute, so I'll be one of the quiet ones at the back :)

Cheers,

Dave C

Hi Vic, Welcome to AL.

The service numbers are "randomly" assigned by Dom Beaudoin (sharpuscm) and you can optionally be listed on the "USCM charter" at colonialmarines.net by Tony Leach (CplTony).

Get in touch with Dom if you want your own number. :)

Welcome Vic (and all the other new members)!

Be sure to update your profile with your location. Sometimes if you're searching for information or items, it helps fellow members give more accurate information if they don't think you live in St.Louis, Missouri, USA. :)

Again, welcome!

Russ
