Yeh I bought the motion tracker kit from him well over 7-8 years ago when he was still located in the UK (although the parcel was indeed sent from Africa).
The main body was a solid piece of resin with most of the details rounded off to obviously make it easier to de-mould for him (these included the barbs that the hoses attach to, making it impossible to attach them). There were numerous large air holes including a 2cm one right on the very top (can't remember the name of the part, it's the part on the very top anyway!) where the resin was poored into. That part would of had to be totally removed and replaced. The general look of the parts gave me the impression that the mould had warped or he hadn't reenforced the mould with a plaster case and the result being the parts were warped.
In all honesty, given the amount of money you spend on the kit, your time and the gear needed to make it pass-able you'd be able to get the deal-deal parts or even a MR motion tracker
I was 14-15 at the time and hadn't found the wonders of forums etc, so when it arrived I assumed the quality of it was what to expect from a private seller and not some big company like airfix etc that I was used too so I didn't complain.
I would highly avoid even thinking about buying from him. You'll regret it, I promise you.
The only good thing to come out it was some extra freebies he threw in that added up to about £40 worth of items, he included to say sorry for taking a while to get it in the post (we're only talking a week). He was also very helpful during the purchase process, even offering a payment plan for me at one stage.

I think I might have confused you somewhat. I ordered the VP70 from spats along with a counter, knife, grenade holder, brackets, ab prtector, weder, belt tool and..something else maybe?

As for the pulse rifle build. Yeah I'll do one. So far all I've done is take off the rough bits with a file on part of the gun.
Soon as I get rid of the big chunk of excess resin on the stock and make the pieces sit flush I'll be ready to glue, so I'll start taking pics now and start a thread when I get around to working on the pulse rifle.
At the moment I'm working on my biker scout armour and helmet.

Hmm... That's a neat looking kit at a very reasonable price Spatman. If I don't manage to track down one of the Tanio Koba or UHC airsoft versions I may get one of these just to have as an inert prop. I guess it'll be a simple introduction to resin kits too.

Do you have armour already? I have to wait until i have the funds (unless spat offers an installment plan lmao) although can get the little things here and there. Im thinking of getting the vp70, belt tool and welder from spat next.

No installment plan, but you can buy the armor in parts (Legs, Ab Pad with Plates, Helmet, Chest/Back). Save up and buy what you can afford. The downside is that you pay a little extra in shipping, but you get some parts along the way!

I don't have my body armour yet. I've got it on order from goldenarmor. (If they suck, don't make me feel too bad)
The seller on ebay I got my rifle from was from a seller called 'mrbaz100'

The rifle build is on hold until I get my LED counter from spats. No point trying to put it together when I have to add the LED counter.

Nah, be optimistic. Even some car wrecks can be fixed up, all depends how much time you put into it. Just be prepared to put time into it.

Is the whole pr project on hold until you get the counter or will you continue shaping, smoothing, cutting parts to fit? I think you could do a great job of it.

Ok, I think the build process of my spulse is now over. Next is the painting process but i have to spray it outside so hope the weather stays ok'ish. Although i suppose i could hand paint it. It does like nice in black though

Now I feel rather sick. Well if the armour is naff, I'm sure I can make it look decent, or at least I hope I can polish a turd. I bought a dodgy set of stormtrooper armour and got that up to 501st standard and I could easily make it up to centurion level.

That is looking awesome DK,I have seen a few of these being built and yours looks tops in comparison.

You can do it, I think the main issue is that it will take you longer to complete. You never know you may be surprised and get a set not so bad. Post some pics when it arrives.

I hope so. I mean it's ABS plastic, how hard can it be to vacuform something decent? Well I realise the lines won't be as sharp if it's from a recasted mould. My stormtrooper armour is from a re-cast set, but it looks nice.

I've been told it'll take about 18 days before it's ready to ship, so add another 7 or so to that and if I'm lucky (Or is it UN-lucky?) I'll get it at the end of February.
When I get it, I'll post up some detailed pics and give a review.

Looks great in the pic DK. Nice work. I'd stick it out for decent weather & spray it.

I don't know what paint you'd normally use but the Krylon Camouflage range of aerosols are hard wearing & don't require primer. The black would provide a nice tough base colour to work on... I guess it's just a question of whether the paint is suitable for resin or not?

I have got humbrol sprays and paints. I have tested them on small parts of the spulse and they work fine. I am a little unsure what to do though as that spray you mentioned i have seen a few times being used to spray airsoft guns and it looks decent stuff. Decisions decisions lol

Another trick would be to paint the shroud with a metallic, seal it, lightly sand as a key to the surface, then paint over BB/OD. Then, as the paint wears, it goes through to metal effect underneath.

I agree with this. Sand the raw rifle, put a coat of primer on there. Sand it smooth. Stick on 1 or 2 layers of metallic paint, then if it looks reasonably nice cover it with your first coat of OD paint.
Just build up the paint from there. Just remember to give it light coats rather than 2 heavy coats. I've painted stuff before and given them about 10 coats of paint, but as it's such a light coat it's more equivalent to 3 heavier coats. (Does that make sense?)
Oh and as you live in the UK, like me, the weather is crap so it'll take much longer for the paint to dry. If you're doing it outside and leaving the gun out to dry, make sure you keep an eye on the weather as it can just piddle down in a matter of seconds.
