The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

The interesting thing is that I was looking for a completely differend part. I realized what it was while looking through this thread:
http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=45101
I ordered the kit and while looking through the parts I stumbled across the part shown above.
Its from the1:72 Hasegawa Leopold railway gun.
You just have to look closely and you'll see it

Cheers,
Stefan

I love the way these parts turn up!

I mean really, think about the odds of identifing all the random little parts that went into making these props 22 years ago... they're stacked against us.

How the hell do we do it??

I'd say it's a combination of luck, patience, a good eye for these things and top notch reference pictures!
I can't thank Gio enough for those pictures! Without them, maybe one or two parts would've been found, but no more.

Cheers,
Stefan

I've got to say that this is outstanding work by all the folks involved!

This thread really embodies what the AL was set out to do; provide information and act as a place of learning & research for those interested in building accurate replica props from our favourite movie series. :)

I didn't have a clue where this part went until I had a look at Gio's reference photos.

And I'd like to echo what Harry said... A thread like this is precisely what this board is all about. :D

Finished right side, main piece.

Unfortunately, I have to rework the right helmet cut out, it is a tad

tight. Left side is good.

I got some scrap black acrylic, and laser cut some squares.

Didn't want that part to be painted.

Original appears plastic or glass.

I thought we thought the original lens was from an old Polaroid instant camera?

Like this?

Actually the viewfinder lense is on the spunkmeyer sight.

If you look back at Gio's picts, It is just a shiny black square.

If anyone wants to pick up the ball on the spunkmeyer rapier
mount, I could do the sight piece.

Someone already has the rapier sight, but no reason to start the
greeblie sight until the mount is done.

ANYONE??

Jesse has my Rapier mount and sight. I haven't heard from him in a while but he had most of it cast from what I remember.

Maybe Jesse can chim in here and let us know if he is close to having it completed.

So you have the part that attaches to the helmet too?

Jessie is MIA from the boards from what I can tell.

Steve got some picts?
