The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Harry - I had the thought. However, if you look closely, the dark ring is larger than the round part.

Matt - the rim with the cut out corners around the rectangular part looks somewhat too pronounced to me. Judging from Gio's pictures I'd say it should be half the thickness you have now. Also the corner cutouts could be slightly smaller. And btw.: Great job!! :D

Cheers,
Stefan

Stefan,

True.

I'll check on the thickness. It's at 1mm now.

If I go thinner, it will be done manually in the sanding phase.
Parts become brittle if too much smaller.

Harry,

It appears to be hacked together regarding the motorcycle part.
Only from the top, you can really tell. It looks like foam core furing
up the harley part from the base.

Ok :-)

A ................ 6 mm

B ................ 4 mm

C ................ Ferro's helmet: no step
Spunk's helmet: half millimeter step
(...but I think not wanted!)

D ................ 30 mm (total)

Bye

Aluminum plates epoxy'd in. Then starting to blend in with the
helmet. Still have some sanding to do.

Simply incredible work Matt. You know how much I want these.

Will you still be offering the template to cut the correct sized holes out and will the plates that all the greeblies sit on be part of the kit or something that we have to get done ourselves?

Cheers

Darren

Here's the mod to the ear cups:

Image

Image

The cups are really thick, and need to be shaved down as per
originals due to removing most of the space for greeblies.

This not an easy model kit, The greeblies will be made, and a
cutting template aid will be provided, but due to different helmet sizing,,,, each person would have the task to epoxy + bondo plates to their helmets.

The molded greeblies will probably have alteratiions, due to the
numerous undercuts ..... nothing you can't dremel away though.

Not much. Finishing up the bondo build on the right ear pieces.

Also shortened the hose connect pieces. Almost there!

Got engaged and have family in town, so progress has been a
bit slow the last two weeks.

After this weekend, back on to the helmet.

I already had my future brother-n-law sanding mag tabs during
