The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Just a couple more pics of what the wrist joints looks next to my 1:1 paper mock-up. The last photo shows the trunnion covers just taped to the wrist joint temporarily.

Sorry about my crappy pics... stupid phone!

Did you mill those yourself or outsource? They look great either way!

I milled most of it myself, but our department was forced to move from their building to another and wasn't allowed to bring the milling machine with them, so I had a friend finish it, and he's completing the rest for me... until I can afford to buy a milling/lathe combo machine myself. Then I will be able to offer them for sale. It came out pretty good, which is not bad for him, since he is a welder by trade. :)
Thanks for checking my posting!

What will be nice is when people ask you "Where'd you buy the rig?" you can say... "In the workshop." :)

Those who can, do. Those who can't (like me)... buy from those who do. ;)

Just to reiterate.... Dibs on the next kit, if you manage to make more. This is gonna blow my clunky arm outta the water! :D

I would love to have these available to everyone, but the last couple of years have sucked big time!
The good news is I have been in the process of selling my car, which would allow me to buy a milling/lathe machine. I currently have two interested folks who want to buy my car, but we will see. Not too many people want to buy a 1971 Super Beetle!

*UPDATE* - The guy who was going to complete the other parts for me lost his job, so I only have two parts out of the four done.
When I re-start the project, I will make sure I build them to my standards (which I set pretty high for myself and because I am a cheap gorgeous bastard, but I also demand affordable, but well built toys). Once I start putting them together, they will be built with the same parts as the real deal. I plan on supplying the stabilizer arms with a small manual with all needed information, as well as a detailed parts list. I will know better once mine is finished, then I can go from there. When I have them done, you should never need another one again! :D

It's a very slow process when your broke ass broke, but my goal is to have them done as promised. It just might take some time though.
Stay frosty peeps!

P.S. Sorry about the mental rambling... I have a bad head cold and it's hard to concentrate. :x

It's been a while, but nothing major to add. Just a few new pics of the never ending, ongoing SG arm build. I now have the 2nd elbow joint done and will eventually begin on the remaining two. The "bones' still have to be cut to shape and drilled.

I wish I could move faster on this, but money is unbelievably tight right now (plumbing went to shitz in our house, looking at over $1000 - that we don't have - to repair, and we just handed our vet over $800 for to find out that our sick dog is perfectly healthy!?! The x-rays showed otherwise, so we are waiting on pins and needles to find out what's wrong with our little man!). Anyways, a long story short, these last few days have temporarily put the brakes on my stabilizer arm build. Hopefully I can sell my damn POS car so I can get some tools to produce these arms for sale.
I like to dream big... It don't cost a damn thing!

The paper mock-up I made last year (shown above), is what the arm will eventually look like when it's done (hopefully).

Thanks fer lookin' folks. See you all at the 30th Anniversary party for Aliens! :D

Not included in this photo are the springs and cable.
The bones still need cutting, surface prep and paint.

2x semi-completed wrist joints. They still need to be drilled, surface prep and final paint.

Fingers crossed for your finances... mostly for your own sake, but also for the sake of wanting one of these arms! :)

Thanks Outcry! Things were looking a little better for us until yesterday... We had some emergency pluming work that needed done so we just had to drop down over $2000 we didn't have. Sigh... Just can never get ahead in this crazy world nowadays!
All I can do now is keep my fingers crossed!
I knew I should have taken the blue pill! There is a serious glitch in the matrix dude!

I have to take a photo of the last wrist joint I was working on. I had to stop because my buddies milling machine packed it in, and I was half done.... FRAKKKKKKK !!!!!

Anyway, thanks for the reply Sean. I will keep you updated when I have more news.
Cheers!
