The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well its not actually structural and just covers up the fixing screw -so your resin one is fine.

I highly suggest a real steel barrel latch/door, just because I made one in resin don't mean you should use it. LOL

That one must be an old one, I have a vac form version that I bolt the latch to, it's a litte stronger than the resin version.

Making an ally barrel stub to replace the resin one. Reason is cos I need a strong point to attach the arm connection parts to and it's currently resin in the relevant area.
This will slide onto the metal barrel and locked in place with grub scews. The arm pivot parts will then be bolted thru the resin barrel shroud into this part.
Therefore the metal barrel will take the stress instead of the resin parts hopefully making it more durable.

Finished off the stub and fitted it in place. Made an L shape piece from 3mm ally that wraps round 2 sides of the barrel jacket to spread the pivot cylinder's load.
The pivot cylinder is bolted thru this, thru the resin and into the barrel stub.

L shaped block cut from 20mm thick ally made and tapped to receive an 8mm bolt which goes thru the pivot cylinder - this will allow the gun to pivot up and down.

Still to do is drill a hole vertically in the other end of the L block to accept the bolt on the stabiliser arm - this will allow the lateral movement.

As 'good' Ash once said "I ain't that good".

Saint - your vest is more accurate than the DV anyway ain't it?

Nah i'd say the DV vest is a bit more accurate than mine, and no doubt far more comfortable and a bit lighter.
Plus i don't like the rear mount vest that i use with my steadicam/flycam.

I'm ambidextrous, however some things feel 'right' one way and not the other eg. i fire a rifle left handed cos it feels more natural. Similarily with the Smartgun, holding it right handed feels odd - so I made it left handed. However it will be easily convertible to left or right once finished.
