Not sure that this "review" will tell anyone anything they didn't already know about these, but I did break down and get the marines. I do not have any intention of buying multiples to build a whole squad, however. They just aren't that nice to warrent that kind of effort. I am even on the fence about repainting them. So much work is required to get them correct...I may just leave them as is and let them be what they are...which is 'meh'.
Cons:
-Paint schemes (I read on twitter that they claim Fox insisted on the color schemes. I can't imagine that true...can it be??? So aweful.)
-Inaccurate Gear. Overly tiny pouches. NO unique webbing. The all have basically a Hudson body/loadout. His bolo tie is barely visible and his hack kit are on all 3 marines)
-Hip joints pop off from time to time. The go right back on, so not that big a deal, but you know...annoying
-Paint rubs off the arms when you bend the joints. They painted the joint, so it flakes at the movement points on the elbows and hands.
-Soft details on weapons/gear. As you will see in the pics compared to the hot toys "snap kits" over a decade ago, they pale in comparison. Poorly molded I guess.
-The Helmets. My lord, how can you delete just about every feature that makes a USCM helmet? They did it. Deleted everything into practically just a liner!
Pros:
-Pose-ability. good range of motion, ESPECIALLY compared to "snap kit" marines. They can actually hold rifles in ashooting position!
-Price?... Bear with me. $25 is too much for something in this scale, but the only other marines in this scale are the 'snap kit' marines, and they are ~$70+ IF you can even find them at all.
-Quintero has better paint apps and joints than either Hicks or Hudson. Maybe it was just a fluke, but Quintero came out a couple months after the first wave of marines. It is possible they improved the manufacturing process.
As mentioned, the only other marines in this scale are the Hot Toys "Snap Kit" marines. Maybe it is fair, maybe it isnt, but most of the pics below will compare the two.
Here you see how details are "softer" and often plain sloppy compared to the crisp snap kit figure.

Bust poseability isn't even close. Even if your "Snap kit" marine didn't have limbs that snapped off and needed to be glued down, they really can't move. (that is as wide as the snap kit legs and arms go!)

The helmet is infuriating.

They look OK in groups. They are mostly in scale with the ACM powerloader statue, the McFarlane AvP queen, and of course the other "Snap Kit" marines and aliens.
