The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Communicating with Erv, need to work out some details.

I would rather have a PX thread as an official interest.

Has this gone any further?

Matt have you spoken with Erv lately? I know he out sourced his saber boards to the US according to the saber forums.

Screen size shouldn't be a problem as there appear to be several sources. It is just the system to power and run the program. Hyperdyne's was so damn expensive. I noticed the one at SDCC on display appeared to be running the android/iphone program on a tablet to show what it would look like.

Thanks!

Greg

I have been looking around for screens that would fit in the Hama, and there really isn't much that is ideal. Most screens are wide now, not 4:3 which is what we want. Though if you found sources then I certainly would love to know about them!

I've not necessarily looked at all of those, some look quite familiar. You have to look at the dimensions of the viewable area against the physical dimensions and see how it might fit in the Hama. A lot of those have the viewable area offset to one side, or nearer the top depending on the orientation, which makes it that much tougher to get lined up with a good view inside the Hama.

I measured my viewer. It has a 2 inch by 2.3 inch opening. I also opened the app on my phone, galaxy 6, and it fit perfect. I will try to work on this and DragonCon at the same time. Might not get it off the ground till after my move.

hi all,

I have one of these ones.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-2-Inch-SPI- ... 1eb35877d2

it fits great in the viewer although it will need some work to mask off the non-screen areas

here it is in the viewer. There is also a 2.4" one that will also probably fit since it doesn't have the backing pcb.

I am working on a raspberry pi version of the tracker software that will include sound and a digital compass movement feature. If and when I get it finished I will gladly share. in the mean time here is my progress pic. There are significant issues to iron out before I can put it out there but I will if I can.

Hi all, 1st post. I managed to bag 4 pairs of the Reebok Stompers (2 Hi + 2 Lo) and have since been on a quest to acquire some Aliens props to carry around at cons whilst wearing the shoes.

I recently bought the Nick-a-Tron resin kit and figured out an easy way to get it "working". I used a Neptune Pine smartwatch as the display and installed an android Motion Tracker app. Some grinding away of the resin is needed, as it's a close fit. It's not 100% accurate, as the buttons on the side of the screen have to remain accessible, but it makes all the right noises and will suffice for most people. Touching the screen adds the targets.

Image

Needs some more painting done to even out the finish. Added 2 LEDs on the underside.

Image

The small slot on the side of the slide viewer is to allow the sound to come through.

Image

The front face comes off to allow the unit to be removed. The batteries are for the LEDs.

Image

The unit slides out so it can be used normally, it still has the functionality of a normal mobile.

I hope this is helpful to others with their own builds.

I think this is the route to go. Instead of a ready kit all can get the hardware and share the programs to get it going.

Thanks!

Greg
