The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Just a heads up on the next update. I will be tweaking the pulse timing back to the original (even though it was slower than the movie) due to several comments from users.

I will also investigate "new" features to add but need to think carefully which direction to take it.

Release date unknown but I reckon with all the reviewing from Apple it will be 10 days or so :)

Please continue to add suggestions to this thread and if you do like like the app, please rate it :D

Thanks!

Ah good. *Sleeps better at night*

:)

What about a hidden button that lets you "kill" the closest Alien? Maybe have the pulse rifle sound effect and the alien random death scream (clearing off the closest white dot). Would be fun for roleplaying. I realize I'm reaching here and might be beyond what the program can do. As it stands its pretty much perfect (with the slower pulse rate for me). This extra would just be for fun.

Ok I've encountered a strange bug...and not the hissing variety. When I add Aliens to the screen, they keep going away from me and not towards me. It only started to do it now which is strange. I must be extra tough because the damn things keep running away!

WAIT!! Haha

I added this to the Gearbox forums but I will post here too :)

I think I know how to improve it!

I finally got the update and had a chance to play with it

My opinion is the pulse speed is spot on but it looks a little crazy because you have 2 wave lines instead of the movies 1.

The dots still fade to black for me and in this update they don't seem to hardly move

Maybe if you can, for the dots and the pulse wave, make them more fuzzy as in if you had a layer of blur over your eyes from being tired, it would look out of focus and less "sharp" or defined. Especially the dots

Also, can you maybe add a "glowing effect" to the backlighting? Perhaps by using a layer of a lighter colour with the transparency set low in a spherical shape?

Everything else is amazing!

Moosh there are two rings. But they are spaced much closer together in the movie than in the app. In the movie they are within millimeters of each other and flash very quickly making them look almost like a single ring. I will see if I can post a screenshot.

The aliens on my screen either move away from me (do I smell or something??) or crawl towards me VERY slowly if I reboot the tracker app. Its very random.

Ok I know what is throwing everyone off. The pulse sound effect is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing after rewatching the opps scene. In fact I hope you keep it the way it is now.

The problem comes from the "Detection Sound". In the app its too fast. In the movie the sound is drawn out more. Watch at Hour 1:54 and 43 seconds in the special edition. In fact the "pulse" should start to outpace the "Detection Sound" by a fair bit.

I believe that people are remembing the Detection speed more than they are remembering the Pulse speed. If those two are adjusted then it's practically perfect.

yep already with Apple ;)

I'm always caught in two minds about the direction this app should take. The 1.0.3 update on android has someone disliking the timing saying its too fast (its actually back to normal and SLOWER than 1.0.2!). Very confusing and misleading review....

its been a busy month for myself but I managed to submit the next update (1.0.3) a week ago for iPhone & iPad. It's currently being processed for the store which means it will appear sometime today :)

I'll see what this involves and make a decision if it is possible for 1.0.4

Well I've messed around with it for the past while and I honestly can't think of a thing I would change. Pulse Rate feels good. It looks good. It works fine as the bugs are fixed.

Excellent work!

Is there a smartphone small enough that could be fit into the display part of an actual motion tracker prop? How cool would that be????

how big is the prop ?

I would guess the Android port has a better chance of working as there is more selection and higher chance of a smaller phone... maybe

Saw this on iTunes and bought it. BEFORE I joined this forum. Kudos on a job well done! I really like it. When Spat gets the motion tracker kit ready for release, I will be using my iPhone as the screen. (Yeah it's not screen accurate, but I can C&C a box that will fit both the phone and the look of tracker. Function wins out on this one for me).

Anyway, great job!

Charlie
